How many outfits is too many for engagement pictures?

MexicoinMarch, on October 6, 2017 at 2:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

We have our pictures tomorrow and we have three outfits planned-1 cute casual, 1 dressy, 1 comfy.

Is 3 outfits overkill?

Have as many as you want but not sure why you need more than 1.

I think that's too many. We recently took ours and brought 2 outfits but ended up not even changing out of our first outfit. If you have unlimited time with your photographer then you might be alright but we took ours right before/during sunset and were working against a clock.

We are doing 2 but I think 3 is fine if you have the time. Totally your decision! :-)

We had a 2 hour time slot for our e-pics and we had 2 outfits. One was more casual and the other outfit was a little dressier. I think 2 is plenty, but that's just my opinion.

What would be the difference between cute-casual and comfy for your 2 outfits?

We did two outfits in 2 hours and it felt fine. Three seems like overkill

Thanks everyone! Our cute casual is me in colored pants/ivory top with boots. Him in a shirt- jacket. Our comfy outfit is me in a monogrammed pullover and him in flannel and he gets to wear his hat.

We each had pictures in three outfits - but brought a bunch extra to see what the photographer thought looked good

3 might be overkill. I feel like 2 is fine and they should both be comfortable for you two. A dressier outfit is good and then a cute less formal out fit would be good too. I myself would just do one outfit, but depending on how long your session is it's all up to you guys. Hope they go well!! Smiley smile

What did your photographer suggest? When I asked mine, she told me about 2 - 3 different TOPS (pants/bottoms wouldn't be that noticeable and it would be quicker to change just the top). our session is expected to last around 2 hours.

I felt like 2 was even too much when FH and I did ours. It was annoying trying to change in and out of nice clothes in a public bathroom. I wish we had done just our casual outfit

I was going to do 3 but it was too cold for my third one, I think 3 is absolutely fine as long as you have time

FH and I are planning to have 2-3 but for him he is only changing shirts and whereas I will have 1 dress and then the other two would just be tops I am changing. But if you are having to change shirts, pants, shoes and accessories with each outfit then I would say no more than 2.

It depends quiet a bit on your photographer quiet frankly.

If your photographer has a good eye and scoped the locations out and has ideas-and works quickly- then 1 is definitely not enough.

AND it depends on how long you have- in an hour with my choice photographer- 3 solid- 4 pushing (depending on the change)

2 is a very comfortable number. I think 3 is more than reasonable if everyone's got their act together.

We did 3 outfits and I changed jewelry for each one but didn't change makeup or anything. We changed really fast and still got everything done in about an hour to hour and a half. We were all on one piece of property with a nice place to change in so didn't do too much walking and we didn't have any specific shots we wanted and just let the photographer tell us what to do since he's an award winning photographer and a trusted friend. We had a great time and just laughed and had fun. The pictures have turned out great!

We did 2 outfits. One was a summer dress for me and a suit jacket for him and the second was a dressy tank top and jean for me and a white shirt and jeans for him.

I think 3 is fine. I was leaning towards 3 but recently decided on 2.

We only did one. I thought about 2 but didn't think it was worth the hassle of changing (we were at a park and I was sick as a dog too). Also be aware some photographers charge extra if you're including outfit changes
