My fiancé and I decided to elope instead of doing a ceremony here with friends. We’ve both been married before, and neither of us wants the hassle of planning a big thing, but we also want something a little more involved than a courthouse ceremony. So I’m curious, how many of you are opting to elope? And what are your reasons?

We originally planned to elope and have a big wedding a few months later but about 2 weeks ago we decided to do a minimony on our original date and a big wedding in March. Will you invite anyone at all to the elopement?

We had a small wedding of 7 people due to covid. Was originally gonna be 92 before covid. Smaller was less stressful and cost effective. I would recommend to anyone to go smaller.

I’m not sure. We’re still discussing having a maid of honor and a best man, but I think we may just end up doing it the two of us, then throw a big party when we get home as our reception.

My FH and I are eloping.
Reasons:
-save a significant amount of money-none of pur families showed an interest in the wedding nor offered to help plan, organize, etc.- I don't get along with his brother qnd my FH isn't the biggest fan of my sister, etc.- I'm very afraid of being the center of attention.-I didn't want to hear any negative comments about our wedding details and my attire, etc. I plan on not wearing a wedding gown.

A lot of our reasons are similar! Some of it family, most of it about saving a ton of money, my considering not wearing a traditional gown. Also wanting to not have all the focus on us. Thanks for sharing!

This is essentially what we did. We eloped, just us. And we plan to have a big reception later. I feel wedding ceremonies are super intimate and I didn’t want anyone spectating. We had a photographer and videographer so people were still there but it was perfect! I do look forward to the party though so we can celebrate with our loved ones.

Well me and my husband now eloped because of all the changes due to Covid. We are now planning a small wedding of 15 of family and friends. Which we will all be staying in a villa together. So this is our safe pod and everyone invited has agreed to have none contact with others 30 days prior to the event,
