How Many Items Should We Register? Wedding Registry?

Hi there! I am wondering how many items my fiancé and I should register for. We plan on having 120-140 guests attending our wedding. About 150 will be invited. We are making our registry public and sharing our wedding website on Facebook. Right now we have registered for 42 items on Target.com. We have maybe 2 or 3 items above $100. I heard from a friend that I should register for at least 100 items due to the size of our guest list... is that right? I don't want to look greedy or something! But she also said it would be frustrating if we ran out of items on our list for people to purchase and also this will be used at the bridal shower. Help! What did your situation look like?

Your friend is right you should try to pick a few more things because you want to give your guests lots of options in different price ranges to choose from.
Many brides choose at least 2 places to register so you give your guests more places to purchase from as well. Since Target is a physical store you can also register for an online store like Amazon. We loved our Amazon registry - it has such a wide range of products plus after the wedding they give you a 20% completion discount!

I'd just register for what you need! We have a smaller registry, closer to 70 items and invited 220 guests (although closer to 100 households, and you usually only get 1 gift per household). Then you will please traditional gift givers & get cash.

Hi Lyss! My advice would be to register for maybe ten more items, if you can think of anything else you need! That way those who want to get you a physical gift have some options but you also have room for those who would prefer to give you cash!

You also don’t have to finalize your registry. We think of it as a living thing, we keep adding to it as we think of things!

Really depends on what you want. If that's all the things that you need/want, maybe consider doing a honeymoon fund. My FH and I have most of the typical things you register for when you get married, so we have a small number of things on our registry (about the same number as you) then a honeymoon fund and a renovation fund for our house. We would rather put money toward our house and a vacation than more stuff, so that's what we're registering for.
