How many hours should you hire a photographer for?

Amanda, on June 9, 2011 at 7:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Just curious on how many hours you are hiring your photographer for and how much are you paying? I have no idea where to even start with photography. I see some have 4 hours but will that be enough to capture everything? **Married brides-do you wish you had more hours or were you satisfied with what you chose?

I am having mine from 4-10 pm, so that gives us 6 hours...everything that really needs to be captured should be done by then & we paid $1000

We are having a super small wedding (25 guests) and no bridal party and a very small and simple reception, so I booked mine for 4 hours. I would have booked longer for a bigger wedding though. And I am paying $1300, and that includes the rights to images. She wasn't the cheapest in my area but I loved her style and that is why we picked her. Smiley smile

Our photog is 6 hours standard, but I am having him shoot for 8 hours, 2:00-10:00pm. Our wedding isn't till 5:30, but we are getting a lot of the family and specific bridal party shots done before.

I think mine will be there for 6 hours. The venue we booked will only be ours for 4 hours so I think 1 hour before to take getting ready pictures and bridal party pics, 4 hours for the wedding and reception then 1 hour for the send off and cute hotel pictures if we want (I think her user name was Asian Bride, she had these cute pictures of her and her new husband jumping on the bed in their dress and tux) Plus some night pics. =)

oh and he is only charging 1,200 includes rights to the images and what not.

We have ours for 8 hours. We have a five our reception + the ceremony + getting ready time. It'll be perfect for us. However, we just went to a wedding this weekend where the photographer was only present for pre-ceremony and ceremony (about 2 hours). It really depends on you.

I'm doing a special 7 hour package she worked out just for me. I wanted the extra hour so we could do pictures comfortably before the ceremony and still have good reception pictures. Oh, if anyone is getting married in Santa Barbara, I recommend Willa Kveta, my photographer. I've loved working with her so far! She is on the vendor list on WW too.

It really depends on your budget and how high of a priority you put on photos as well as how rushed you think you might feel. Our package is for 8 hours, I may add an extra hour or so..we are doing the first look and getting some pics before the wedding-fam/getting ready, our reception is 5 hours.

I got an all day package where the photographer followed me from 10am at the salon to the end of the night at 10pm. She was fabulous!!! To any brides getting married in Pensacola, check out Kate at www.katescaptures.com. She only charged me $799 for the entire day/package, which included consulting, complete editing, dvd, copyrights to my pictures, and she passed out cards to all of my guests with the website and password so that they could go online and view our wedding photos!!!

We have ours booked for 8 hours. 2 hours before the wedding and then the 6 which is for the ceremony and reception. I wanted to get some photos before the wedding so we could party longer during our reception.

I'm still deciding between 2 photographers. but 1 is 8 hours for 1,500 and the other is all day for 1,300. i want to make sure there is a pro there from before the ceremony doing all family/group shots, to our exit under bubbles.

Yeah - i do not think 4 hours is nearly long enough... not if you are doing a ceremony, cocktail hour and full reception... but again, everyone is different and the events are different. mine is a 6 hour package, with some extras for a bit over $2000.

We booked two photographers for the whole day... if you take out our albums (we're getting 3 - one for us and then duplicates for our parents) we're probably spending about **** (hard to really say since we have such a huge package and 3 oversized albums - meaning extra pages)

I say, if you can afford it, hire them for all day.
