How many hours should you hire a photographer for?

Just curious on how many hours you are hiring your photographer for and how much are you paying? I have no idea where to even start with photography. I see some have 4 hours but will that be enough to capture everything? **Married brides-do you wish you had more hours or were you satisfied with what...

We had ours for 10 hours. It worked out well....covered everything but maybe the last hour of the reception.

We had our photographer there from 3 - 9pm. Once it starts getting late, the place may start to look messy from partying and if you have alcohol, your guests might thank you for not having a photographer take pics of them looking drunk later in the night.

Great question. As you might notice, with the answers you've received, it all depends on you.

    1. Do you want photos before your wedding?

    - You getting ready

    - Your decorations

    - A "First-Look" photo

    2. How long is your ceremony?

    3. Are you:

    - Cutting the cake?

    - Having a "couple's first dance"?

    - Father/Daughter dance?

    - Mother/Son dance?

    - Bouquet toss?

    - Garner toss?

    - Money dance (men pay $1 to dance with the bride)

    - Having a grand exit?

    - Any other tradition you want captured on film.

Figure out what you want photographed, and a basic time-frame for your reception and go from there.

    I hope this helped.
