How many days to reserve hotel rooms?

Mine is on Saturday so I did Friday and Saturday room blocks. If your having OOT guests they may wanna stay till Sunday so I would do both nights

Thanks. I forgot to ask, how do I know how many rooms to reserve? Say I have 20 OOT families invited... but I have no way of knowing now how many of those 20 will actually be able to attend. Do I just guess? Is there some sort of formula?

Just ask the hotel. Some do in say 10 increments. If you have 20 guest from out of town then reserve 20, that should be fine.

I work for a hotel, many hotels will hold a block of rooms for you with no charge to you and any rooms that dont get used will be sold later that evening and you are not held responseable for the rooms. My suggestion honestly is to look and make sure that there are no events in that area that would end up with rooms being sold out of.. But be on the safe said and book a block. you can always cancel if need be but you cant build a hotel room if needed one! hope this helps lots of luck to you

Do u have to put anything down for the rooms? If not than guests will have a deadline of when they should reserve the rooms, I got 3 blocks which is 30 rooms. For OOT and friends, which is plenty.

We reserved rooms for Friday and Saturday (wedding on Saturday) because we have a lot of OOT guests that will probably stay for the weekend. We held 20 because that was the limit I could reserve.
