How long should the precessional be?

Emily, on January 14, 2020 at 11:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
When do guests usually start arriving for a wedding? I’m currently picking songs to play while guests are waiting for the ceremony to start but I’m not sure how many songs I need to pick.

Typically music starts playing 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, but the processional isn’t until the wedding party/family/whoever begins walking down the aisle. It usually consists of one or two songs.

I agree with Caytlyn. Our DJ started music for the guests arrival about 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

The time the music plays while guests arrive is called the prelude not the processional. Smiley smile Like Caytlyn said, the processional is when the wedding party & family starts walking down the aisle. Preludes are usually 30 minutes long! My musicians are going to start playing at 2:30pm for our 3:00pm ceremony.

    Hey there, Emily Smiley smile
30 minutes sounds like a good amount of time to prepare the music for! What songs are on the playlist? You may find this article helpful when picking songs - 18 Wedding Prelude Songs to Kickstart Your Ceremony
