How long is too long for a florist quote?

KatieandRyan, on January 20, 2015 at 5:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

So we went to a florist on January 10th to get a quote. Actually, I emailed her a couple of days earlier but she never responsed, but we were in town for cupcakes anyway and stopped in and she said she was having email issues and had time then. So, we told her everything we wanted and she told us she would get back to us with a quote. That was 10 days ago. I have no idea how long florist quotes take. I thought at the most it would take a week. Now I don't know if I should email her to make sure she didn't forget or lose my email. Anyway, what's the longest you waited for a quote from a florist and is 10 days too soon to email?

If a vendor takes over a week to get back to me, I find a different vendor.

It took 2 weeks for us to get a quote back from the florist we are using. It takes a lot of calculating of what to order to put arrangements and bouquets together. Then they have to make your quote. Give her time, but I would contact her in the next day or so just to check in.

I think 10 days without contact is a bit much. At the least she could check in and say 'hey, i'm still working on it.' I would call or email and just ask her when to expect a quote. If it takes her longer than 2-3 days to respond, I would move on.

A florist did that to me. But I'm very impatient and never just depend on one thing or person so I kept looking, when he finally replied, I had found someone better and cheaper, and that's exactly what I told him. Think about it, you don't want to deal with someone who you're going to have to wait to communicate with.

I had this issue with a couple florists. We ended up choosing a florist who gave us a quote during our consultation.

ETA I would keep looking for a florist and forget about this one.

Most of the florists I got quotes from had them to me within a few days to a week at most. I had one florist I was trying to get a hold of, but never got back to me. She came highly recommended from one of my bm, but the florist was so bad at getting back to me. I finally gave up and went with someone else. Not worth the stress of having someone that isn't good at getting back to you.

It's a completely crazy time of year, but I wouldn't wait more than two weeks, honestly.

I personally think that is too long. We had our consult with our florist on a Saturday. By Sunday night I had my quote. It makes me nervous when vendors take really long.

I would start looking for another florist. I think 10 days should be enough time to get a quote together, especially if you met in person and told her exactly what you're looking for.

I had that issue with the florist we end up with. I asked a couple of times for the quote and when I finally got it, it did not reflect what I had asked for. I had to write out exactly what I wanted in a word document for each item (bouquet, bout, corsage). I finally got a quote that looked good and went with it. ALL REGRETS!! Find someone who cares!

I met with one tonight and they said by the end of the week I would have a quote. I would email and then depending on the response move on.

Thanks everyone! I'll email her tomorrow and see what she says. I didn't know if I was just being really impatient or if this was normal.

Mine sent me a quote in around 3 days. We met on a Thursday and I had it on Sunday evening. I was impressed b/c she had told me when we met that she had multiple weddings that weekend and runs the business on her own.

Never heard of a vendor getting back to someone with a quote. I met with 4 florists and they all have me the quote on the spot. 10 days seems veryy long

My florist gave me a preliminary initial quote during our meeting but said they would get something more formal to me later. I met with my florist during their busy season, so they let me know that the formal quote might take a month before they could get it to me. I didn't mind because my wedding was still 10 months away and they were up front and honest with me about the time frame.

I would send a quick email just to follow up. Also check your spam folder to make sure she hasn't emailed you back and it went to your spam folder.

Yikes. Most, out of the 7 florists I went to, were able to give me pricing before I left the initial appointment. One took about a week and a half, but I expected it to take a little while as she was an independent vendor who worked out of her home
