How long for wedding preview photos?

My wedding photographer is amazing and was fantastic on the day. However it’s been over 2 weeks and we haven’t got a preview or sneak peak of photos. I’m disappointed as my husband and I have pretty much no photos together except for one blurry one and would like to be able to show at least one picture to people who weren’t able to make our wedding due to COVID.

I’ve had a look at the photographers website, the information booklet he sent me & FAQS and he states he will have a sneak preview to you within fourteen days and then 4-6 weeks for all photos back. However on reviewing the contract he’s only put in a line about photos back in 4-6 weeks. Do I have a leg to stand on by requesting preview photos if it’s not actually stated in the contract, but is everywhere else?

    You can ask! I was doing thank-you cards and wanted to include a specific one in my grandmas and they sent over about 10 shots. This was maybe 3 weeks after the wedding., after they sent a sneak peek (we got that at right about 2 weeks). They may have a few to give you a sneak peek or you could request one of the 2 of you.

    You can ask your photographer. There is no harm in that. We got our sneak peek within 24 hours. That was not in our contract, it’s just how our photographer works. I would just email or call and ask when you can expect your sneak peek.

    I think every photographer is different. Our’s had a sneak peak up in a week, I’ve heard more time for others. It all depends.

    We didn’t get preview photos until the day the photographer sent our whole photo file via mail (it was like an email to say theyre on the way and here’s a few to tie you over). If it’s not contracted, you can’t demand it Smiley winking, but as long as you are polite in approach, it never hurts to ask for a sneak peak photo or two! I would approach the ask in one of two ways— it could be “wondering when we can expect a sneak peak available” or “hey know the photos may not be ready yet but I was wondering if I could get just one or two of the two of us early so that I can show some people who weren’t able to attend due to covid”

    It depends on your contract more so than what is on their FAQs just because different offerings could be in different packages, but there's no harm in asking! We got a sneak peek of our minimony pics a little over 24 hours later and expect about the same for our big wedding this Fall with the same photographer. Our package said 25 image sneak peek 24-48 hours after the event. 24-48 hours was typical for all the photographers we interviewed. 2 weeks seems like a long time to me.

    It couldn't hurt to reach out to ask if there's any way they can send a sneak peek of a couple of the photos! Since it's not in your contract, the photographer might not honor your request, though you never know unless you ask! They might be able to send you a few.

    Thanks everyone, I’ve been anxiously waiting for a sneak peak to come through as I assumed I’d be the same as all other clients so it’s disappointing it hasn’t. I’ll reach out to him to see if he can send a photo or two for us!

    This is what was written in the booklet the photographer sent me.. ‘within two weeks you will receive a small sneak peak of photos to get you excited and your full online gallery will be delivered within 4-6 weeks’
