How long does it take a venue to reply?

Martine, on October 19, 2018 at 11:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I have sent multiple requests (via weddingwire email) to venues asking to arrange a tour. It has been almost a week and only two have replied. Is it normal for them to take so long to respond? Most businesses will respond to an email inquiry within a day or two. I am wondering if it is because my date is in July, only 9 months away, and they are already booked. I did look at the online "available" dates in their calendars, and they did show openings, but do the venues actually update their calendars? Or am I being too impatient? I need to decide on a venue soon!

Most venues we requested info from got back to us in 48 hours. The ones that did not, were never even considered. We moved quickly and did not wait on vendors.

Some venues don't get the emails from WW. I recommend contacting them directly. I would try calling if emailing them directly doesn't get a response.

I'd try calling them. I remember several vendors not responding when I reached out to them via WW.

You’ll have to go on the venues website and contact them through there or an email they provide on the website. Many of the venues that didn’t respond on WeddingWire responded right away when I contacted them directly

I contacted about 30 venues for quotes and only 20 got back to me. I picked 10 I liked and then booked 5 tours. If a vendor doesn’t reply within three business days with at least some kind of message, I move on. Everyone has email these days there’s really no excuse to me. I did contact them through their sites first before wedding wire. Also, I was back and forth with my dream venue, had a phone appt, and she missed the phone appt and I never heard back. Again, I just moved on and found an even better venue. I just don’t want someone coordinating my wedding who can’t deal with an email or phone call.

I had a similar experience! I actually created a thread on here not too long ago about vendor response times in general, because it seemed like they were all over the place.

As previous posters said, I would definitely contact any vendors directly, rather than through WW. While many messages go through, a lot do not, and it's not worth the headache of wondering.

I will say that I had a few venues not respond to me at all, which just helped narrow down my decision. Others didn't have email addresses available, and while that may not be a dealbreaker for everyone, it was for me. Good communication is paramount in this industry.

All of the vendors that I've selected so far were very prompt and transparent; you can learn a lot about your future wedding partner through their email or phone correspondence (or lack thereof). I know it's a busy season, and I know that these people get a lot of inquiries, but it comes with the territory.

My photographer actually isn't listed on WW or similar sites, and even she gets bombarded with messages, along with keeping up with actual events. She's been so prompt, though, and gave me a heads up that she might be a little slow to respond this month, which I really appreciated. Even with that, she always responds in a reasonable amount of time.

I had two venues in particular that were my top final choices, and both responded via email within 24 hours at most.

    Good luck!

Please realize that there is a chance the venue did not receive the message. When we were looking for vendors I had some hit and miss replies. When speaking with WW it was discovered that the computer flagged my acct as spam. Perhaps calling the venue will be easier and ensure you receive a response.

I didn’t hear back from a few venues. One only responded once a week (and at odd hours like 3am which put me off). If they didn’t even want to entertain taking my money for my wedding, I wasn’t going to chase them.

The coordinator at the venue we ultimately chose responded to me in 24 hours and has been very responsive ever since we booked.

I'm in the same boat as you, wedding summer 2019 and need to book venue asap. Some answer back fast on here but when I don't hear back from them within a day, I'll contact them via their website too. You can often get a fast response that way Smiley smile Good luck!
