How long did you wait for wedding photos to get back?

Ingrid, on October 14, 2018 at 12:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
Ugh. Right before my wedding, I realized that my contract with my photographer doesn’t specify how quickly I’ll get my photos back 😂 I’m not worried about him taking an obscene amount of time to get back, because I’ve worked with him as a second shooter before, and he’s a real stand-up guy. It took two weeks to get our e-pics back. So i’m just wondering what the average amount of time it takes for photogs to give wedding photos back? How long did it take for you, or for those of you engaged, what does your contract say? For reference, we got 7 hrs of wedding coverage.

My contract says 4 weeks. I think 4 to 8 weeks is standard from the photographers I looked at.

My contract says up to 8 weeks. I think 6-8 weeks is the norm.

My photographer says it can take up to 6 weeks. We had two photographers for 10 hours, but she edits all the photos herself and creates a digital album. We got married three weeks ago and she gave us 6 photos as a sneak peek. I’m dying to see the rest!

Mine says up to 12 weeks, but I’m praying it doesn’t take that long!

I think about 8 weeks is normal.

I’m sure you’re just anxious about getting your pictures back.

Just signed our contract this week. Our delivery time is 14 days, but that's definitely not the norm. It's one of the things he does to set himself apart in the industry.

We got some sneak peek polaroids the night of which was really awesome! But he didn’t get a chance to edit them so I know he didn’t give us the 100% best pics since he will want us to see those for the first time when they’re perfect. I’m so anxious!

That’s so awesome! As someone who does photography on the side, it definitely shouldn’t take much longer than 14 days. I think a lot of photographers just like to take their time so they do the standard 6-8 weeks.

    That’s completely understandable.

I can’t wait to see them once you get them back!

We had 7 hours of coverage and it took her about 3 months to get our pictures to us. This is a side job for her though so I understood it would take her a little longer than fulltime photographers.

48-72 hours for sneak peaks. Contact says 2 weeks we will have our pictures back. That’s just all the digital pictures. An additional 2 weeks for anything we will order from them.

Our contract says 4-6 weeks but that during peak season it can take a bit longer. I know 2 other couples that used our same photographer and I want to say they both theirs back in about 6 weeks.

Mine said 3 weeks! I definitely think it’d be fine to reach out and ask how long they expect it to take

My photographer didn't have a specific timeline, though when asked he said normally 8-12 weeks for summer weddings and 6-8 for non peak weddings. Our engagement photos took just over 2 weeks to get back - but he did those for us in the middle of his big rush so we told him it wasn't a huge deal if it took longer than a week. Our photographer does a ton of destination weddings though so his longer time frame accounts for the fact he isn't home in his studio as much over the summer.

The first wedding i went to had the horror story of the photographer disappearing with the photos. They found her address and had to basically threaten her to get the pictures back. The wedding was in September 2017, they didn't get pics back until February 2018. That was definitely a photographer horror story.

The most recent wedding we went to was 9.8 and they just posted their pics Saturday night. So about 1 month, which personally for picture loving me, is too long.

Our photographers, i have followed for a while on social media and their blog. They post live to their story on the wedding day, and have sneak peaks available pretty much the day of/ next day, and the blog post with almost all the photos within the week. They are a team of two (mother and daughter) and full time wedding photographers so basically this is all they do.

So, depending on the photographer, it could be any range of time.

In my contract is says it can take up to 8 weeks. Which to me that seems normal. I did have some sneak peeks a few days later which was really nice!

I am thinking it also takes our photographer 8 weeks because she also does newborn photography and she gearing up and starting to do a lot of holiday minis right now.

It is so hard to wait patently wait for them! I just want to see them so bad! I am just trying to distract myself from thinking about it to much!

Our photographer will give us some preview shots by the end of this week and said 3/4 weeks later we should have all our photos.
