How long before your wedding did your man pick out his suit?

I was under the impression that suits did not need to be picked out for the groom/groomsmen/ushers/dads until 3-4 months before the wedding. But, FH is in a wedding 2 weeks before ours, and just told me that he got an email saying that he needs to buy his suit this week. Which got me thinking,...

I was under the impression that suits did not need to be picked out for the groom/groomsmen/ushers/dads until 3-4 months before the wedding. But, FH is in a wedding 2 weeks before ours, and just told me that he got an email saying that he needs to buy his suit this week.

Which got me thinking, should FH and I be pushing our groomsmen to get their suits?

Also, how much did your suit rental cost? (This guy was saying that FH's suit rental was going to be $200 after the discount, which sounded like a ton of money to me, that is twice as much as the bridesmaids dresses I had my girls buy!)

FH hasn't even gone looking for suits yet. We know that they are going to wear grey suits. And that we aren't making them rent vests or cumber-buns or anything. And FH is buying and giving all of them ties. FH is going to wear a vest he already has so that he is a little bit different from everyone else. And our officiant is going to wear a black suit and we are giving him the same tie.

I did everything according to the timeline of the checklist on theknot app and the WW app. even so, i think i went earlier than needed. we rented from men's warehouse 2 months before the wedding and the salespeople seemed to think we didn't need to do it so early. but this gave us a better feel of the wedding look since we ended up going with something i had not expected at all. we switched from tan to black tie!

We are renting, not purchasing. We picked out the suits at the same time that I picked out my dress (in October) and told the guys they could come in to get fitted anytime before June 1st (Our wedding is July 11). We are paying $99 for each groomsmen: they are only renting pants, an ivory button up, and pink suspenders and bow ties. They are then buying TOMS to wear, which are about $50. So altogether about $150 for their outfits.

For dads, they are wearing full suits with vests and ties and jackets and pants and they are renting shoes, not wearing TOMS. Their outfits are $119 each.

My groom is wearing a vest, tie, pants, and TOMS. His shoes were $50 and they are renting us his outfit for free because we are renting for so many groomsmen (7).

ETA: We don't have a ring bearer so no worries there.

ETA again: Suit prices are crazy! My girls are renting dresses from Little Borrowed Dress and wearing TOMS and their outfits were $110 all together. Who would have thought something on the groom's side would be so expensive?

We did ours really early because I received a bridal show promotion of $40 off per GM and a free groom rental with 4 paid rentals - so we jumped on that. I still have two guys that need to get measured, and I will start harassing them around May ish.

We just picked out FH's tux two weeks ago and the owner of the shop said we needed to get his guys in within a couple weeks to a month at the latest. They are going to wear gray tuxes and FH the long cutaway jacket with the same vest.

We traveled to the next town to a locally owned shop that is a bridal and formal shop and they have over 40000 pieces in inventory (just for the men). We had a bad experience with Menw Wearhouse.

We actually picked out the tuxes this past weekend. We are renting them from Men's Wear house. With our wedding in April that still gives everyone a month to get measured. I didnt want to do it to far in advanced becaues my FH is a body builder and his wieght/size fluctuates all the time. They are actually letting him get remeasured 2 weeks before the wedding to make sure he gets the best possible fit. They have a deal that the grooms is free if you have more than 6 rentals. Luckily we have 8. We happened to like the the vera wang tux not knowing the price. For everything it comes to $240 per rental but luckily I signed up at a bridal shower so I saved 30 per tux rental so it came to $210. We sent everyone a text to get their tux and no one seemed to have a problem with the price.

We went looking just last week. Renting tuxes from the same place I'm getting my dress and hopefully the bridesmaids dresses. I asked for a discount so the tuxes are renting for everyone at $155 that is for everything, tux, shirt, vest, ties and shoes.

FH and I went to Men's Warehouse last weekend to pick out groomsmen attire, but really don't expect anyone to go and get measured for quite some time. It was more to check it off the list than anything else. That, and to let the groomsmen know how much they would be spending so they have time to plan for it.

Our salesperson told us that FH doesn't need to go to Men's Warehouse to pick out a tux that he will purchase until THREE WEEKS before the wedding. Seems insanely close to me, but hey, what do I know?

Tux rentals can be very pricey, because its not just some tacky tux you wear to prom lol. The last wedding FH was in, the tux rental was $212 and that's for ONE DAY!

FH has decided he wants to buy and wants his GM to buy suits. He wants to do a light gray color and has already picked out the suit he likes. He plans to use Joseph A. Banks buy 1 get 3 free sale to purchase the suits (we have 8 GM) which will make them about $250 plus tax, more than a rental, but at least they will get to keep them! These are regularly $995 suits too. They'll be ordering them this weekend...and we're getting married a week before you. This has been much more complicated to coordinate than I anticipated so I definitely would not wait too much longer!!

My timeline said 4 months before so that's when we went, but Men's Wearhouse was like "so soon? Well okay, but come back the month of your wedding." We told all the guys to go get measured the month before our wedding just to make sure everyone went.

Our wedding is in October and we are not looking until like April unless their is a good sale before then. We are buying..renting a suit is not worth it.

FH picked out his tux back in September. We are getting pants, shirts, vests, ties, jacket and pocket squares for $175.00 after a $40.00 discount. (It's an Ike Behar (SP?) tux).

All of our GM are coming from out of state, but the bridal shop told us all they had to do was go to a bridal shop or suit store in their state to get measured and the measurements could be called or faxed in to our shop here. We don't have to have the measurements in until the end of April/first of May.
