How long after marriage do you continue to wear your engagement ring?

Funny story...my FH thought that the engagement ring was only to be worn *during* the engagement. Once you get married, you switch to the band only.

Apparently he never realized his own mother still wore her's. I think he was a little relieved....all that money for something you only wear for a year or 2?!?!

I will be wearing mine together. It really depends on the person though. Some people only wear the band and then wear their engagement ring on their right hand sometimes, some don't wear any band or engagement ring at all. It's really a personal preference.

I'm wearing mine forever! I'm planning to get a band that can be worn alone and not soldering them together so I could just wear the band if I wanted to.

I plan to wear both, but since I work in a hospital and do patient care all day as a therapist, I'll wear my engagement ring on a necklace and the band on my finger while I'm working.

I don't plan on having a wedding band, I just want the engagement one. So I'll be wearing mine forever!

I don't plan to ever stop wearing my engagement ring. It was my grandmother's so it's very special to me. And I have two curved bands that go around it and definitely are not meant to be worn alone. I may invest in a cheap band to wear if there's ever a time I don't want to be wearing the whole setup.

@Punkin My FH thought the same thing. He was very confused about why you would spend so much money on an engagement ring and then not wear it after the wedding. His mom only wears a band, I'm not sure if she ever had an e-ring, so I think that's where his thought came from. I assured him that I will be wearing my engagement ring with my wedding ring for the rest of my life.

Holly- same. I looked at bands but nothing seemed to compliment it. So I think I'm just keeping this as my wedding ring.

I wear them in all different combinations depending on what I'm doing. If we're going out I definitely wear them as a set, and I usually wear them to work as a set. But, I'm a high school science teacher so if I'm doing a lab that day where I'll be in gloves most of the day, I'll either wear just my band or leave all of my rings at home instead of taking them on and off all day.

My cousin doesn't wear hers because she doesn't prefer to wear jewelry. She just wears her band. It's totally personal preference or if you can't (like if you're in the medical field or something).

Most people wear it forever unless it doesn't fit and they haven't changed the size (ex. a lot of women's fingers change size from kids so they remove their rings to have it sized later on and just don't get around to actually doing it)

I plan to continue to wear mine. Many of my coworkers only wear the band or have a qualo (sp?) ring they wear at work. I work in healthcare so constantly putting gloves off/on and washing hands. I have a low profile ring so it doesn't break thru or get cought on gloves like some of my coworkers do.

I plan to wear mine for the rest of forever but also because my wedding band and ring will be soldered together. My FMIL usually just wears her band and then at events will wear both. It's all personal preference!
