How long after marriage do you continue to wear your engagement ring?

This just came to mind but how long are you expected to wear engagement ring after you get married. I remember my former boss had been married for like 15 years and still wore her engagement ring along with band. My other coworkers just wear their band.

I think people who no longer wear their engagement ring fall into one of these categories:

    1. They never liked their engagement ring to begin with.

    2. Their engagement ring no longer fits them.

    3. They lost their engagement ring.

I don't know anyone who just decided to stop wearing it - unless they're trying to send their DH a message...time for an upgrade!

I'm wearing mine forever...unless I lose it or it stops fitting Smiley winking

I think it’s personal preference! I definitely love my engagement ring, so I plan to wear it. Once kiddos come into the picture, I may wear my wedding band so the diamond doesn’t get knocked. We’ll see when the time comes!

Most people wear it as long as the marriage lasts, unless they cannot wear it while working, or gain or lose too much weight and need it fixed .

My fiancé thought the same until now. Just now asked if the rings need to really be matching lol I told him yes, since I will wear them both the rest of my life

Forever, until I can pass it down to my future son that plans to get married. I’d like to keep it in the family Since my family never had things to pass down and keep sacred. Then I’ll get a new ring.

I’ve heard this before!! I’ve had several (unmarried) men tell me that they don’t understand spending a lot of money on engagement rings because they’re only worn for a “year or two.” Like what? Where are they getting this idea???

I don’t understand why someone would spend all that money on an engagement ring and not wear it?!?

It’s pretty normal to wear your wedding band With your engagement ring. That would be very weird to me. I’ve seen like doctors, nurses, and people who use their hands a lot because the ring sits high not wear it. But if that’s not you why wouldn’t you wear it?
I love my engagement ring and I have added two bands to it.

I plan to wear mine forever, especially because it’s more expensive than my wedding band so I want to get more use out of it haha

I know some people - nurses - who take off the ering for work and just wear the band. But that’s for hand washing, gloves, etc. Everyone else I know wears both all the time.
I was married before and wore both for 20 years, till he left. I wore them while longer because it felt weird to not. I took it off at a jewelry store to sell it LOL
