How late is too late...

Getting married June 9, 2018 and I want to know how late I could get my dress... I know I shouldn't be thinking like this, but to have the people I want there with me it is looking like sometime between late Oct to Dec before I could go shopping and I just wanted to know if this was too late.

Dresses take 6-9 months to come in usually (if you don't buy them off the rack). And this isn't including time for alterations. I would go asap. Find something you like. Narrow it down to a few, then take your posse with you when you make your final decision.

The less people you bring to your first app, the better. You don't want other people's opinions clouding your judgement.

Ordered dress Jan 1, got dress on Jan 21. One fitting/alteration and then done. My point being: it can vary so much, just prioritize what's important for you re the dress. If that's THE dress, sooner is better. If it's sharing a moment with the fam, you can take your time and just find a dress that works.

    And good luck!

I ordered my dress a year before our wedding. It came in plenty of time, but I definitely wouldn't want to push off this type of purchase.

I think it depends on what you're looking for. If you're going for a brand new designer dress, all the fancy schmnacy salons will tell you you have to order 6 months in advance minimum, which means you'll have to have made a decision by 6 months. If you're buying ready to wear, you could go 3 months before your wedding and still have time for alterations. I ended up finding a beautiful vintage-type dress off the rack about 6 months before the wedding. So it depends.

Can you go on your own to look now at least to narrow it down? That way you have an idea of what you want. If you're leaning towards designer dresses that need to be ordered well in advance, you have the option to order now; or you can wait to show your peeps a few choices in the fall and have them help you decide.

I just purchased my dress for my October Wedding a week ago today and my dress will not be in until mid December. Don't forget you have to leave yourself a few weeks for alterations. Smiley smile

Start researching brands and styles so you have an idea what you like. I got found mine about 4 weeks ago but was told it would take 6 months to receive

I ordered online from China in June and it came in less than 2 weeks later so ..... I guess it depends on what kind of thing you want?

It depends where you go! I went early in case it took me awhile to find something. I ended up finding mine at BHLDN and it came in a month later! Way quicker than planned.
