How late is too late to serve lunch?

Merfy Lou, on February 2, 2012 at 6:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

FH and I are planning a daytime wedding and serving lunch. Originally, we planned for a short (less than 20 minutes) noon ceremony and serving lunch following, but now I'm thinking that we should wait an hour-hour and a half later and start at 1 or 1:30.

Any suggestions?

I need to put this in stone soon so I can order the pieces for my invites and timelines Smiley smile

1 sounds good..why are you waiting in between the ceremony and reception? Is it to take pictures? Is your ceremony and reception in the same venue? Sorry for all of the questions lol. We're doing a morning (11am) ceremony and first dances on the beach, then we'll have lunch around 12:30.

Lunch at 1:30 is okay. Lunch at 2 and I'll be cranky.

I would say start at 1pm. That would give your guests a chance to have a small snack prior to arriving, enjoy your 1ish wedding and then have a nice lunch/celebration at 1:30.

We did a ceremony at 1pm, then pictures. We served our lunch at 2pm. Since it was a Saturday- everyone jsut ate a late breakfast. We made sure the invites said that lunch would be served at 2. So, we didn't have any complaints. We did have very light appetizers (fruit/veggie trays) for our guests while we were doing pictures though.

No break for pictures - I just want a little more time in the morning to get ready/take pictures etc. We'd do the ceremony and then have lunch immediately, since it's in the same venue.

We're doing it on a riverboat and lunch is during a two hour cruise down the river. We'll likely be doing the rest of our pictures after the river cruise

Your wedding sounds like it will be fun. I would do 1:00 p.m. Even with a late breakfast, my stomach starts to growl after 1:00.

Yeah I wouldn't start much later than 1. However, if people know what time lunch is, then they should eat before accordingly.
