How important is the food for a 15 guest wedding?

Rosilus, on July 12, 2020 at 1:50 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 22

Hello all I having 15 guest wedding which includes myself and FH. I want to know in that case how important is the food for the reception dinner? I was thinking buffet style or a simple sit down dinner not too expensive. We are not expecting any gifts. We didn't bother to even make a registry for our wedding next year May 15 2021.

A simple sit down dinner is fine ! At the end of the day people are there for you and to celebrate a happy moment so the food doesn’t need to be super fancy or anything

I think if you're looking to keep costs down, and being that there will only be a total of 15 people, a restaurant dinner would be just fine. Most caterers have a guest minimum anyway of at least 50, I believe, at the lowest. Some I've seen 75 so it would definitely be easier to have a sit down dinner at a restaurant somewhere.

Providing food to your guests is still important, but a simple sit-down or buffet is fine.

We had 15 guests too. 😊

Yeah we were thinking that its just a lot of restaurants would not provide "private dining for that " it would be along with everyone else.

Most restaurants, if not all, actually offer private dining depending on your guest count or what they have available. I was going to do a restaurant dinner when our wedding was going to be 30 people. We were offered a semi-private which we would still be our own group which wasn't that bad but some places do offer fully private areas. You just have to ask and see if they have a guest minimum for that option. I would call/email to find out.

I think semi private is fine, you get the ambience of the restaurant without it being overwhelming. Of course that depends on your own taste. Perhaps choose a couple that you like and go to visit to see how a semi private setting would work. You might be surprised.

I know the place where we’re going for our rehearsal dinner told me that I would need a minimum of 25 to have the separate room to make it worthwhile for the waitresses. Mind you this is a little mom and pop place that has been around for about 25 years. He isn’t charging me for the room and was very helpful and flexible in the planning.

That being said, a lot of restaurants now if you want a private space will charge you additionally. The place we originally were planning on going wanted to charge us $1250. And all we wanted to do was use their patio in November for essentially a pizza party. There’s no way we would’ve hit That number with just pizza and soda, so the difference would’ve been charged as a room rental fee.
    Best of luck!

I think having the dinner in a semi-private area of the restaurant is fine. Honestly, even the regular area of the restaurant would be fine too. It's going to be May, so the restaurants by the shore shouldn't be that crowded anyway since it's before Memorial Day.

Me and my FH made reservations at a restaurant that can seat 10 people after the ceremony also look to see if they have party rooms. Also try to see if you dine if it’s applicable outside ..

The food is very important to us, as well as to treat our guests.

We created a list of priorities as far as what’s most important and to us it was the food, the venues and photography.

I think the food is one of thee most important aspects of the celebration. If you can afford to have/find a reputable well known established restaurant set up a private area with a nice meal and pay for your guests then there’s no question that the day will be great.

We are going back to our house and doing a backyard BBQ. Restaurants are only open for carryout in our state so we are picking up some BBQ from the local place and just going back to our house.
