How important is the DJ to you??

Archer_Bride2be, on May 15, 2013 at 2:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I've really been looking at DJ's in our area lately and got some good prices I think. I'm torn between 2 options I have (well the 2 best in my mind). 1st option: A highly rated DJ here on WW, he is giving me free uplighting and one free hour because we are having a Sunday Wedding, he also has a deal with WW for $100 off...so all together it would be $599 for a DJ who I know is realllly good. Option 2: a DJ that FMIL works with, I guess he is a really good karaoke DJ, and does weddings but it's not his main thing, but I can't find many reviews on him. Option number 2 is $500, so $100 cheaper.

So my question is....is the $100 more worth it for a really good known DJ, or would you save the money and go with the less experienced?

Omg - for only a hundred dollar difference, i wouldnt think about it for a minute. get the experienced (ist option) DJ. you have to consider WHAT You are getting for the money - not just the amount of money.

music is absolutely critical to the feel and flow of the reception, and someone where weddings "arent his thing" is not worth trying out on the most important day of your lives.

Music is so important to use that we're having both a band and dj.

In the grand scheme of things $100 isn't a huge savings so I'd go with the one you like.

That's a pretty small difference for someone who plays such a big part in the wedding. I would go with the one I knew would be good.

Spend the extra for a good DJ. There's nothing more awkward when the MC sucks.

I'd go with the first one. It sounds like he's great and you're getting a good deal.

I would say use the $500 one.. Dj's take care of the flow of your wedding.. You need someone who knows what they are doing.

Keeps the party on the timeline so you don't have to pay over hour fees. So the extra $100 could actually save you money. My venue is $225 for each extra hour, then you got to add all the other vendors fees.

Spend the extra $100 and don't look back. A bad DJ will ruin your wedding.

Put in that extra $100, because a bad DJ will ruin your big day, I've seen it happened. Good DJ's invest in their craft, that's why they charge a little bit more, those equipment don't run cheap, and they have to update them every so often.

I guess it's pretty unanimous then....I wanted to go with the more experienced one, but FH thought I might be better to save the money. I think I'll convince him to spend it though! thanks!

For me the most important part of the reception is the music and the food once people eat and they can get on the dance floor you wedding will be talked about for a long time. I still have people asking if i am going to do a vow renewal. Ive only been married two years on the 28th...lol

I find it very important but I do know the cost of the professional doesn't equal a good professional. Is there anyway you can hear him DJ. BTW we are in the same place FI found a guy at work that can do it for 250 (like super cheap) he is only charging what it costs for his supplies basically but makes no money anyways, I don't know anything about him and it's not his day job. However, he does have a site and the people in the photographs seem happy lol I plan to hear what he can do before we decided for sure.

I agree with these ladies, it's definitely worth it to spend that extra $100 for a DJ you know will be great. In the grand scheme of things $100 isn't that much - especially when you think of what a difference it will make to have one less thing to stress about before, and during, your wedding. I love my DJ and would gladly spend $100 more if necessary to keep him!

Spend the money!!! After the venue, the DJ was the most important thing to me. I would rather save on other things. They can make or break your wedding!
