This is probably a silly question because I know ultimately this is our wedding, but its become one of those nagging thoughts in the back of my mind that I can't shake. I'm getting married in September of this year, and the main reason we chose September is that it's the start of Autumn, my absolute favorite time of the year. I want Autumn colors (burgundy, burnt orange, yellow), pumpkins, mason jars, Fall leaves, twinkle lights, etc. The venue we booked is near Pismo Beach, California. We chose Pismo because it holds a special spot in both our hearts, it's "our place." And the venue is so darn beautiful. We loved its romantic, kind of intimate vibe, and we knew it was what we wanted just 5 minutes into our viewing appointment. It sits on its own little private lake, and the actual venue itself fits in well with the Autumn theme. However, we've had a few people question the Autumn theme when our chosen location is the beach; as in they're surprised we aren't doing a beach theme. Then explaining the fact that our venue isn't on the beach, it's just near it, we get sort of confused looks as to why we've chosen a beach city as our location. Initially I loved our choices in regards to the venue and our theme, but now I feel almost stupid for even mentioning the reason we chose Pismo was because we love it there so much, when the wedding really doesn't even have anything to do with Pismo. We did start our venue search looking at other places, some right on the beach, others on the cliffs above the ocean, but let me tell you, those venues were so insanely expensive we were almost embarrassed to have even considered them! So we figured that even if we couldn't be right on the beach, at least we had found a venue we loved in the same general area as Pismo and that fit better into our budget. Is this something I just need to get over?
Below are a few pictures of our venue! You'll see the vibe is a far cry from a beach theme but we love it all the same.

This is the ceremony area, which sits right on the lake. They allow you to decorate the alter however you please:
They have this super cute fire pit that they set up with S'mores for the reception:
