How Important HMU Trial?

Planning DW so I'll only get there a few days before the wedding. How important is the HMU trial? Specifically hair? The salon I like has done the style I like multiple times...wondering if it's a necessity

The main reason I wanted to do a trial is to make sure my skin didn't react with any of the product my MUA used.

I will be doing a hair trial as it gets closer to the wedding, probably for my shower.

I would be realistic and ask your friend if your hair can do what you want it to and last. My hair won't hold curls. Maybe just stop by the salon and talk to the stylist, show pictures so it isn't the first time you've talked the day of.

Well, I suck at doing hair so I knew I was hiring someone who could do it better than I could so I didn't think to do a trial. I rented a bridal studio that has a hair stylist so it seemed like a no brainer to use her. She requires a trial to book which I was against because I didn't want to waste the money on a trial however I am soooooooooooo glad I did. The trial was terrible and my hair looked like crap and the updo fell out in less than 20 minutes. If I hadn't done a trial that would've been my wedding day and I would have been so upset. I'm so glad I did the trial and now I would highly recommend one.

@melaina did you book a different place after that? My worry is I'd have to book a place before getting a trial and if they're awful (which I don't think they are) I lose the deposit. Unless I do the trail a year early but doesn't that defeat the purpose?

My trial is going to be the day before the wedding since she's flying in from California. I'm kind of picky about how my makeup is done, and it's included in her price, so I want the time to have her work on it so day of it's not a big deal.

So, it's not really necessary. If you want a trial you can ask for one after you get to your destination. A lot of companies I looked at required a deposit before a trial anyway, so I figured it wasn't a huge deal to wait

If you have the time to do a trial, I say do it. Especially if you have never worked with this person before, I would want to know what I'm getting before the day of.

I think it depends. If you're wanting a pretty standard style I think you don't need it. These stylists have done almost everything, I don't think anything you pick would be a surprise that needs a trial, especially since you said you've seen them execute what you want.

I did one only bc I wanted to test out my extensions and make sure the style I wanted would look good. It did and the makeup I envisioned she already had in mind for me based off my dress and it came out flawless.

If you need peace of mind go for it, but I spent $175 I really didn't need to.

Depends on how intense...my wife and I didn't wear make up and our hair dues were simple. Both of us simply got up, brushed our hair and went (we had a DIY-Renaissance themed wedding though).

I stressed the importance of a trial in my BAM, but how I looked was very important to me. If it's no big deal, skip it. I didn't like the length of my hair at my trial, and because of that I was able to purchase the right length when it came time for the wedding.

I am getting one. I do not usually wear a lot of makeup and my hair is hard to work with so I really want mt stylist to know my hair before the day!
