How far in advance to wedding should a facial be done?

Please settle a workplace debate. How far in advance should a facial be done before a wedding/ special occasion?

I have no clue. Have you ever had a facial before? I haven't, so I don't really know the answers to these, but things that may need to be considered:

Will a facial bring more blemishes to the surface after it's done. (If a deep clean tends to bring stuff to the surface, you won't want the extra pimples shining.

Will it make your face really dry? Moisturizer might be needed more often than normal.

If it tends to do things to your face right away, you would want to do the facial several days before the wedding for it to clear up.

If it tends to do things to your face later on, you may want to do the facial the day before so that any breakouts, etc. will occur after the wedding is over.

Like I said, I've never had one done, but I know that a friend of mine gets her lip waxed and it will make her face break out about 2 days afterwards, so that's why I was thinking it might do something similar with a facial since you are messing with the pores. Just a theory, anyway.

Depends on the kind of facial you are haveing done.. My aunt had a chemical peel and she had a reaction so her face was really red for a week or so and she did it close to her wedding... So i suggest if you get facials and you want to try a new one maybe test it out months prior to actually doing it for your wedding.. Facials are great however everyone reacts to the items they use differently just make sure you know what your getting into before you want it done for you wedding and it doesnt turn out.. you never know..

I had my very first facial prior to my wedding. I had it done on Monday, and I was married that Saturday. All went well...my face was glowing!

It would most likely depend on the type of facial. And if your skin is familiar with the products. If it is a your basic classic facial and you are not familiar with the products I would say get your first one at least a month before to 6 weeks, that way you can see how your skin reacts. If you have no problems, you could get one right before your wedding. If you are doing a more intense facial with a chemical peel, microderm or some kind of crazy mask you may want to skip it riiiight before the wedding, your skin may need at least 2 weeks to recover and get back to normal.

I would say at least a week so that if you have a poor reaction (i.e. redness) it has time to go away. I know I break out easily with new products so if you are the same I would have it done a couple of weeks in advanced

I've been getting facials since December (once every 5-6 weeks) and plan to have my last facial about 1 week before the wedding. I wouldn't get one any closer than that in case your skin has some sort of reaction...my skin can be sensitive but I haven't had any reactions at all. I had some blemishes initially but I think my skin hasn't gotten so much better (used to be really dull and people would think I was sick when I had no makeup on). I no longer wear makeup every day because my skin looks so good now. If you can swing it I would recommend starting now so you can really start to see a difference in your skin.

Thanks... some one was telling me to get it right before the wedding. I am going to get one this week to see how my skin reacts. Maybe get another one a week before if all goes well.

As the others were saying it will just depend on what you have done and what is going on with your skin at the time. I have had two cleansing facials and the first one she didnt need to do any extractions so after having it done I looked great! Although the 2nd time I needed some extractions and yikes, I looked horrible for about a week...lots of cover up needed....but after about a week my skin looked awesome again! The place I go to recommends getting them at least once a season.

I think it is a great idea to have one done now to see how it goes!

I have VERY sensitive skin, so I would say the sooner you have it, the better--almost like a test run. I anticipate full blown break outs and rashes when trying new things, and I would just want to make sure a facial wouldn't have that effect on me right before my wedding, but that's just me and my crazy skin Smiley smile

Jessica-I'm an esthetician and I would recommend getting one about a week out....but I would do what you are planning and get the same one you will be doing the week before just to make sure you don't have any product reactions. A facial should not make you break out unless you are allergic to the products or they are using the wrong products for your skin type. Like others said-unless you are getting an aggressive peel (which it doesn't sound like you are) and you have a qualified esthetician you should be fine and glowing!

I would test run a facial first well before your big day. Detoxification brings all the dirt to the surface and procedures such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels can leave you red for several days after.

Another option is to try Artistry's at home alternatives to office procedures, such as the Revitalizing Peel with Mushroom Enzyme. The enzyme in this product is so "smart" it stops working when it hits the Ph level of your new, healthy cells. Every Artistry products comes with 180 satisfaction guarantee so you know you'll be happy.

I offer complimentary Glow sessions to analyze the health of your skin and recommend specific products based on your needs and wants. A certified technician for the machine, I also offer samples and a free gift on purchases over $100.

Every bride deserves to look like Miss America on her wedding day and it all starts with flawless skin!

I must say that I ADORE FACIALS! They are seriously the most relaxing wonderful thing you can treat yourself to-(if you can spend days away at the spa!-I certainly dont have time for that)

I just had my second last weekend and plan on having one every month leading up to my wedding. I have observed that the day after a facial my face does look glowy and healthy but my pores are not so great-by day 2 and 3 after the facial my face is amazing-breakouts gone, still glowing-better then ever. I have super dry skin that is prone to breakouts-cover-up is part of my daily make-up- usually just that and mascara. I would agree with everyone else in the YES to the facial, but have it about a week to afew days before the wedding.

If you want to get a pre-wedding facial - I'd do it a full 7 days before the wedding, just to play it safe!! You never know if your skin might react to something crazy!

In general, you don't want to drastically change anything about your routine the week of the wedding!
