How far in advance should I book the salon for my wedding day?

Courtney, on October 25, 2013 at 12:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

My wedding is Aug 30th, 2014. It seems like everything books up earlier than I thought! Is it ever too early to book the salon for me and my girls for the big day?

I booked mine a year in advance, but she's coming to me. Once it gets closer, I'll book a trial with her 2-4 weeks before my big day as well.

I would say ASAP. When I booked my salon, I got lucky and it was the only Saturday in June they had available

I mentioned my wedding in June (5 months before). She told me to contact them again in August to set up my trial. I guess they had kind of penciled me in, but no times or anything were finalized until August.

People aren't exactly tripping over themselves to get married in November in PA LOL

I booked mine about 10 months in advance. I'll probably do a trial a few months before the wedding.

I think it just depends on the salon and how busy they are. I had originally booked mine probably 9-12 months out ( I don't really remember). I found out in August that they were going out of business. I booked with a hair stylist and MUA that are going to come to us the day of a few weeks later. I don't think it's ever too early to book.

I actually booked mine a year and a half in advance because I know she can get booked up really quickly (also, my wedding was during a long weekend in August, typically a good weather weekend in rainy Vancouver so a lot of people get married around that time). My MUA was also willing to hold the price for me if I booked early so that was also an incentive for me.

I will probably be booking mine next month for a May wedding. I think I know who I want but I'm not 100% sure yet so I'm holding off. My wedding planner has been in contact with the salon though and they know I'm close to booking them, lol.

It's destination so I'm just thankful I have someone down there talking to people.

I finally decided on having my MUA and hair stylist come to my hotel because I couldn't find a salon nearby that did both hair and makeup. However, I had to go through several MUA's and stylists before finding ones that had my date free, and I was a year out still. So hop to it!
