30mins before is always good...but speak to your venue...they may be able to help on that. Be sure to check w/ your venue, on where a good place for guests to mingle before getting seated.

We started the background music 30 minutes before the ceremony.

I have it timed for 30 min. But was thinking people would show up 15 min early.

30 minutes. But in my area, we have guests routinely show up way after the ceremony over. This is why I don't recommend that any of my couples wait for anyone.

Two hours late? Why would anyone wait for that diva? Rude, selfish and completely out of control. By that time, I would have been long gone and she wouldn't have an officiant.

There will always be people showing up early and I think 30 minutes is a good rule of thumb. I usually plan for myself to get there 30 minutes before just in case something happens (like traffic) and I am running a little late. And if I am there on time, well then I'm early!

I am glad you asked this question. I have been wondering the same thing. It seems like everyone is saying 15 to 30 minutes is the standard early arrival time, great information and a lot of help with planning and itinerary

As you can see, 30 min is typical.

When I am photographing a wedding, I spend an hour with each of the bride and groom, typically starting with the bride two hours prior to the wedding so she can go back to her ready room at least an hour before it starts. then I work with the groom, sending him back to his room 20-30 minutes prior to start.

At my wedding, my bride was 45 min late to the point people were asking if she had cold feet. Were I not patient to a fault, I would have walked. No way would I wait for two hours for her to show. Hehehe. Three years later, the woman has no concept of time. What's that country song..."Waitin' on a woman"?
