How does your venue know guests meal choice

GreektoIrish2017, on October 11, 2017 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

We are having steak, chicken, fish and pasta. Only one person picked pasta so the DOC said to just point him out. For the rest the DOC wants me to do something special so they know where the food goes. I'm stumped. What did you do or what are you planning to do so the servers know who gets what? I'm having place cards so the only thing I could think was to get stickers of a chicken, cow, and a fish and put it on there but what if people don't place it at their seat....

I've been to weddings where there was either a color or sticker on the placecard at the table indicating the meal choice. You could put a note at the table where they're held asking that guests bring the placecard to their seats.

You don't have to have actual stickers of the animal, just indicate which will mean which meal.

We assigned tables and made a template of where the tables should be placed, the number assigned to it, how many people were sitting there, and how many of each of 3 entrees should be brought to the tables.

We put stickers on the escort cards, too, green for vegetarian, and so forth.

Put something on the escort card, or have the escort cards in different colors depending on meal choice. Your guests will know to put them at their seats, and if someone forgets the servers will ask.

Ours asked us to put a symbol on the place cards.

I did color coded adhesive gems on our escort cards. I didn't put a gem on the most popular entrée (filet mignon), red was salmon, green was vegetarian, blue was kid's meal, and black indicated that guest had a social dietary request (gluten free and food allergies). I made a key on the seating chart that I handed in at our venue for the colors. I also wrote the allergy or intolerance in the bottom corner of a place card that had a black gem so that it was extra clear which specially prepared meal they should be putting down on the table.
