How do you acknowledge a special occasions that fall around my wedding day?

Leydi, on May 21, 2016 at 10:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I found out well after we'd booked our date that it falls around my fiance's grandparents' wedding anniversary. The grandparents are requesting their anniversary to be acknowledge during our wedding reception. I don't know what to do. Should I have something spacial for them at my wedding reception?

You could dedicate a song at the reception to them

I like the idea of dedicating the song. Frankly I think it's sort of weird that they're requesting to be spotlighted, but whatever you decide to do, make it subtle and not over the top.

How about an anniversary dance just for them?

I also think they are requesting the attention. But I think the song is nice maybe even play their first dance song

I agree it's odd they're requesting it. We had lots of birthdays and anniversaries around our wedding so we had the DJ do a "special announcements" section where he announced everyone saying "and this week on the 20th it was Kim and John's 15th anniversary and on the 25th it's Sally and Ryan's 5th anniversary!"

We booked our wedding and then realized that it's FH's grandfathers birthday. He's over the moon excited about it though! We are going to leave a little birthday gift at his seat.

Ours is on FH's mom's birthday. We are surprising her with her favorite dessert after dinner.

I agree...it's odd that they are requesting so much attention. I like the idea of dedicating a song for them. I think it's my wedding and I want to have my special day.

Are they the longest marriage attending your wedding? You could do the anniversary dance and when they are the last ones on the dance floor, have the DJ make an announcement that it's their anniversary and you can give them a bottle of wine or flowers.

Wierd that they are asking for the attention, but if they did have a song they danced to at their wedding maybe use that song for an anniversary dance. if you do this I think you should make absolutely sure they are the longest married couple in the room. At the end of the dance give her a small bouquet (DD used her toss bouquet for this).
