How do Wedding hashtags work?

Ok. I feel silly asking this question but need some clarification. The main point of the hashtag for me is to collect photos that guests take without them having t

On Instagram, you can click on a hashtag and it shows you every photo that has that hashtag on it so its an easy way to look at all of the pictures people took on social media.

It's definitely not necessary but it can be fun if you have a younger tech savvy crowd who will Instagram pics of the wedding!

Sorry! I somehow hit post by accident.

I don’t want guests to have to download an app. I also don’t necessarily want pics posted all over social media. Is that unavoidable? I don’t currently use Instagram, which is what I’m sure many would use with the hashtag. Can someone give be a quick rundown of how it would work?

If you don't have instagram and guest that are really not into all the kinds of things then I would not worry about it.

But how it works is when ever someone uses the hashtag the picture is shown in one location. So when multiple people use the hashtag all the photos are in one spot!

I have one and have already started to use it. I am using it to keep a nice memory of wedding planning, and I want to use it after so we just have a nice place where all are memories are in one place!

If you don't want pics posted you may want to do a tech free wedding and encourage guests to not take pictures of you. Ultimately, poeple tend to take selfies and group pics at the wedding and post them with the hashtag. It is just nice to actually be able to see what everyone was doing during the wedding. If you do choose a tech free wedding you may want to invest in a polariod camera or something so guests have pics to remember the event with. That will discourage online pics as well. You can't control everyone and some pics will go online, but you may get some people that are willing to give up those posted pics.

You can't really avoid people posting to social media unless you specifically ask them not to.

To avoid the hashtag thing I just wouldn't make one, since the whole point is for you to see everything and you won't even have an Instagram to do that.

I think it’s more the real-time posting that would bother me. I guess I was hoping for an easy way for many guests to take photos and me have access to them. I know Veri is popular but that would entail them having to download an app. Don’t know how they’d feel about that. Guess I was hoping there was a way to make the actual hashtag private. But I guess that’s not a thing? Lol

That’s true. Hashtag or not, folks will post to IG, FB and SC. I think I kind of wanted the pics to myself at least for a little while. I definitely don’t want to be a wet blanket and our family likes to party! We are having an Unplugged ceremony so maybe that’s enough. I’m probably overthinking it.

Pardon my ignorance but WHERE do they show up? On their own page with the hashtag attached? Or on my page? Or would they have to specifically post it to my page? Guess I’ll have to actually start using my IG acct. Just to get a better feel for it.

So are these various posts by other people and you found them through searching the hashtag itself?

I thought of a hashtag and I have started using it. So far I am the only one to use the hashtag. But once other people do there will be more pictures there as long as they use my hashtag #sanoktastic
