So you’re saying I don’t have to invite people’s husbands and wives ? I can send out an invite to just the people I know even if they are married? I mean seriously how is this so hard to understand

This is the case, a lot of my guests are married / in long term relationships and I don’t care for their significant others

They are married to my friends so they have to be there .. I once posted on another forum asking if it’s rude to only invite your friends / family and not their significant others and I got chewed out .. now I’m sad my wedding is 50% people I don’t know / or don’t like & people are shocked I invited ppl I don’t like lol I’m so confused

They are SO of my guests .. I love all my family and friends that we invited .. we’re having a small wedding but unfortunately 50% of our guests are wives/husbands that either I barely know or don’t like

How? Well because you created an open ended post with a single question and no specific details. So I answered it. And even with the extra details listed here, thankfully, I still can’t relate. We just don’t have such types of negative relationships with our invited guests. It’s unfortunate that you’re dealing with that. However, I’m sure you’ll be too overjoyed on your wedding day for it to even be a concern.

Simply not invited 🤷🏾‍♀️ My husband and I actually went through this! If our loved one chooses not to come because their spouse/partner isn't invited we completely understand. But we weren't letting anyone ruin our day or give off negative vibes!!

Wow I wish! I posted once asking if it was ok to invite people without their significant others if we didn’t know them or didn’t particularly like them and I got chewed up about how rude it was. Now that I’m not happy with the guest list people are confused why I invited their spouses to begin with lol so confusing

I wish it were that easy. I’m very close to this person and don’t feel like it’s right to let them know I don’t like their spouse in my life wedding invite

I don’t think anyone is confused on why you’re inviting spouses. Your post was incredibly vague on who these people are to you so how were we supposed to guess that it’s your friends’ spouses you were posting about? Significant others should definitely be invited.

Yeah it was vague I didn’t want to give too much details but didn’t think everyone knew every single person they invited to their wedding

Well you didn’t give all the facts, you didn’t state who it was you didn’t want to invite. Married couples are a unite and get invited together (It’s your wedding and you could certainly invite one without the other but it’s in very poor taste and you could expect a lot of declines.)
