Hi everyone, Just curious for those who paid for a wedding on your own...how did you do it? Did you already have a lot of money saved? Take out a loan? Credit cards? Just curious!

My FH is an accountant and built out our budget based on what we could afford to save every month starting the month after we got engaged. We decided on vendors from that.

I have a bunch of money saved so I am using that. Same with my FW. So we are paying off things right away as we book them.

FH and I decided on our wedding budget, opened wedding only bank account, and deposited money there. We've been paying things off as we go alone. We use my credit card sometimes for cash back, but we pay off EVERY month. No interest. Other than that, we use funds from wedding account. When we got engaged we both had enough saved up for our wedding, but decided not to touch that money. To date, we haven't had to dip into those savings and don't plan on it. We've been engaged for 13 months with just 3.5 to go!

We use my FH credit card to earn points, but we can easily pay it off every month. We had some help from both parents, but are paying the majority out of our savings and current earnings. I work at a restaurant and I'm saving my tips too buy fun stuff in our honeymoon. Please don't take out a loan, the only debt in this life that is worth having is student loans (sometimes), a mortgage, or a business loan.

My parents paid a huge portion and we saved for 18 months for ours. We put the big stuff on credit cards to earn points and have paid it off as we go.

Should follow up with. My parents graciously and amazingly paid a lot of it. We couldn't have had such a perfect day without them and we're lucky

Tax return and bonus. The rest we are paying as we go, but there isnt much of a balance left

We paid for about half of ours out of pocket and the other half was gifted to us. We are both financially savvy and have had savings for many years so we used some of that for the wedding.

Of course, we used our cash back credit cards for anything that would accept them for the cash back. We never carry a balance though.
