Hey all!! Hope everyone is having an amazing start to the new year. Me, not so much...we are dealing with some death in my family and I could use some lighthearted fun stories! So! How did you all meet your partner?! My story is kind of “controversial” but fun....I met my FH because my best friend was dating him and took him to our junior prom! I had my own date, but we hit it off as friends there. She broke up with him a few weeks later but we all stayed close friends because he was part of our friend group at that point. She then pulled me aside and told me she thought he’d be really good for me. I was horrified at first but I did have a HUGE crush on him. I never went for it at the time because I felt wrong about it since she was my best friend, even though she said it was fine (oh to be 16 again!). He ended up getting another girlfriend and I moved away for college. Fast forward 10 years, I had noticed that he was recently single, so I reached out. We picked up right where we left off and this time we allowed the romance to happen. We’ve been together 6 years and getting married this year!

I love it when the person really distinguished themselves from the rest and you really notice it. I felt that way with my FH too when he was so caring about my needs and making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed/wanted. Nobody else ever cared that much, so I get what you are saying with knowing!

Great story! That’s awesome that your friend gave you her blessing to pursue him.

My fiancé and I met eight years ago on OK Cupid. I had actually just stopped seeing another guy I’d met on there, who I had really liked. After a few days of “mourning”, I went back on to look for new prospects. At the top of my recent visitors page was a black and white photo of a very handsome young man. I looked at his profile and learned that he was also an Ohio native who had moved to Chicago, and we had very similar tastes in music and movies. We chatted on OKC for a week or so before exchanging numbers. Our first phone call was 2 hours long! We met up a few days later at a bar in my neighborhood. He was very impressed that I had looked up Yelp reviews of several places. Because of our phone call, we had gotten a lot of the awkward first date talk out of the way, so we just picked up where we left off. February 1st is our official eighth anniversary, and in nine months, we’re getting married!

Same for me! He said "lol" a lot in his message and looked kind of mean, so I didn't expect our meet-up at a local bar to go that well, but I took a chance. He says he took one look at me and almost left because he felt I was out of his league. But, he didn't, and he turned out to be super sweet! We met up for dinner that weekend, and the rest is history!
