How did you make really nice, yet extremely inexpensive centerpieces? Did you rent?

So we're trying very hard to keep our centerpieces cheap, mostly because we keep going over budget on so many other things. Anyway, we're doing a white-on-white wedding, with hints of silver, gold, and crystal. We were thinking about doing a tall, clear vase, with crystals or those gel beads or something in the bottom, maybe with floating candles, or a submerged flower, or some such thing. Well, we can't find the vases we like for less than $15 a piece, and we think that will be pretty steep for 22 tables, not to mention that that's not including any of the filling, etc!

We considered renting, but have no idea if that's even a thing around here.

Have you rented centerpieces? How willing were they to work with you? Did you like the end result? Did it save you money?

How do you find components for a centerpiece that will not ruin the theme, yet aren't insanely expensive?

I'm on my phone so I can't post pics but I am using tall vases with an led light at the bottom, water beads and an orchid. The final product looks very elegant. Total cost will be approx $15 each. I bought 14" vases from AC. Moore 2 weeks ago when they were on sale for 40%off. I still need a few more so I will either wait until they have that sale again or make a trip to buy one or two each week with my 40-50% off one item coupons. I bought the orchids off Amazon for $19.99 a dozen (big difference from the stores). It can work you just have to figure out what you want to do and look for sales. Good luckSmiley smile

@Rachel Depending on what the ceterpiece components actually ARE, you can sell them on Craig's List, Tradesy, the Knot, Wedding Bee ...

Mine will just be vases with flowers and candles. I will probably end up giving them away, but if I don't then I'll hit Craig's List. For stuff that is more "wedding-y" (made that up!) like those beautiful candalabras, a wedding specific site might be more helpful.

This is a mock-up of my centerpiece. All in all, it costs about $10-$11 each.

I am doing 4 vases/jars per table. I got the mason jars from Walmart and dyed them myself, and the other vases from the dollar store. I ordered the small candles from walmart as well. I am doing a single rose in some vases and a sprig of babies breath in another. I bought some little starfish on Amazon to sprinkle around the table too. I wanted it to be as simple/cheap as possible. I think the total for everything for about 15 tables is $275

I actually purchased every piece of mine separately. I had to hunt for all of the pieces, but that was half of the fun!!!

Lanterns are from CL - $425 for 120 lanterns that range in size from 2"-12" ($3.54/each)

Wood Slices from CL - $75 for 25 of them ($3/each)

Old Medicine Bottles from Antique Auction - $30 for 42 that range in size ($.71/each)

Dried Peach Colored Baby's Breath from craft store that was closing - $2.50 per 5lbs bundle

Dried Hydrangeas from eBay - $60 with shipping for 50 blooms all different colors that range in size from 7"-9" across ($1.20/each)

Flower Vases homemade - Soup Cans and Rope

I have yet to make the table numbers...

All together, I paid around $10 per centerpiece (not including table numbers). Super cheap, plus I get to sell everything when my wedding is all said and done! =)

I notice that the cheapest most cutest centerpiece are the upside down wine glasses with flowers inside and candles on top. You can use different heights and throw rose petals and bling all around it.

I did three white hydrangeas in silver vases on top of one of those mirror things. The picture doesn't show it, but my coordinator added four votive candles and sprinkled pink flower petals arond each one.
