How did you guys choose your wedding colors?

How did you guys choose your wedding colors? We are getting married in February but we live in Florida and it will be a garden ceremony and reception.

I picked my favorite color which is purple and the decor will match my amethyst ring as well. Smiley smile
Honestly you can pick any color of your liking. Maybe see what flowers are available in February and look at the colors of those flowers. See which ones keep sticking out to you. That’s of course if you buy flowers or go to a florist for your wedding. Smiley smile

We actually changed our colors a few times. First it was cream, red and silver (silver from the bling of crystals/diamonds), then blue, yellow and black, now it is teal, black and rose gold. We changed it so many time because of the way I was decorating lol FH said the famous words "it's your day, do what you want", so I did. FH didn't like the "truly in love theme for cream, red and silver, then he didn't like the beauty and the beast theme for the blue, yellow and black colors, so he picked teal, and black and I added the rose gold. Even though we having a planned elopement (which is starting to turn into a destination wedding thanks to close family members want to be there) I still found a way to keep my colors.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I landed on colors! We had our date, and we had our location, so then I I started with florals inspo and went from there. I knew I wanted peaches, corals, and pinks in my florals. Then I picked a complimentary color - which is in the blue family. With our wedding being on the beach, it made sense for that to be a lighter blue rather than a navy or royal! So we settled on a blue suit for my fiance, dusty blue bridesmaid dresses, and those colors in my florals with blue accents.

Honestly, I picked my venue and season first, then looked for my favorite colors and how they'd play into that.

Hi Marisa. Great topic! We knew we didn't want a white or neutral palette. My color base started with the cherry red carpet of my reception venue. Then I perused red-based invitations for inspiration. It was easiest to go red-pink ombre in a moody/sexy vibe. Our florist further brought it to life. Perhaps you can base it on the florals of your venue? If that process doesn't work for you, you can look at art pieces you admire or the colors in your wardrobes. Last pick a metal for contrast (gold, silver, bronze, rose gold). Best wishes!

Hi Michelle! I haven’t even seen the reception area I booked it blind but only because it’s a part of my venue lol I will have to go there sometime this month or next to see if there are any colors that stand out. I think maybe peaches and blues

My favorite color is purple too! My engagement ring has a purple sapphire and I knew purple had to be in my wedding colors somehow ☺️

A mix of favorites and special meaning. My favorite color is purple so that was a given. My daughter is my MOH and she's wearing a plum dress. Our wedding is around St. Patrick's day which has a special meaning to me and FH. So I wanted green to be a main color too. I browsed on Pinterest to narrow it down and ended up with this:

Before he even proposed, FH talked about wanting to wear a navy suit for our wedding, so I was envisioning navy and marsala (2015 color of the year, so there was a lot of inspiration on Pinterest). When covid hit, we decided to postpone the wedding, and while I was torture-scrolling on Pinterest I saw a bunch of teal (my favorite color) and burnt orange. A lot of the teal and orange looked like it was a tribute to the Miami Dolphins, so I started doubting the combo. I kept getting barraged with teal wedding colored things that I loved though, and it eventually hit me to pair it with more of a mulberry color. FH then said he wanted to wear a more classic looking black tux, so we're now going with teal/ mulberry/ silver for our colors.

I tossed about a bunch of ideas before landing on one! I definitely wanted a terracotta/ burnt orange since we’re getting married in October and then I actually found a picture on Pinterest of a burgundy suit that my fiancé and I both loved for him and decided to use that as our other color! Pinterest is great to come up with ideas. You can always search “garden wedding colors” and see if anything stands out to you!
