How did FH ask groomsmen?

Heather, on September 2, 2012 at 1:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

My FH is contemplating how to ask his friends to be groomsmen. He already asked Best man in person, so he was wondering would email be too impersonal? He doesn't see all of them in person too often and we wanted to get our wedding party set. How did your FH ask his groomsmen? Do you think it should be in person? Or maybe a phone call would suffice? Is email ok?? Opinions please :-)

I would suggest if he cannot see them in person, the next best thing would probably be a phone call!

MyLo invited the guys over the a game and asked during halftime.

It depends on his relationship with the guys. If he does not see them regularly and unable to get together, a phone call is good.

It does depend. My FI's brother who lives in another state, just texted him if he wanted to be in his wedding but they never, ever talk on the phone, so it wasn't an unusual way for them to communicate even for important info.

Nick just asked his friends from work, and then his FBIL (his sisters fiance) he said "sorry I don't have a fancy box for you" as I had just given Nick's sister a will you be my bridesmaid box.

We talked about a lot of things... Pictures explain it better than I can so I got them out for you.

If he's not into all that these cards are cheap and a cute way of doing it that is more personal than a phone call..

I went the lazy way...I emailed them. I've known them for 30 yrs though...whether or not that makes a difference.

I like the box/card idea but FH doesn't LOL, he is just clueless as to what to do. I am showing/telling him all your ideas thanks :-)

I think for guys it doesn't matter as much. Men are much less into that type of thing. FH asked his best man in person and the rest on the phone. In fact, one guy he forgot to ask, but thought he did. Then we went to his Parish campout where this groomsman's parents were. And he mentioned that their son was a groomsman. They were like, really? Does Pat know? LOL... so that said I think a phone call is fine! Smiley smile

H just called people up or saw them in person and was like, "Yooo, wanna be in my wedding?" and that was that.

I think the gift boxes and cards are cool but if H's friends got those, they would have been really confused. Or they would have assumed I made them. Smiley smile
