How can I encourage guests to RSVP onilne?

Chelle, on April 10, 2013 at 11:40 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

On our wedding invitations we informed guest's that they can RSVP online, which after playing with the wedding wire RSVP tool last night- is the way I'm hoping EVERYONE RSVPs. We're also including a reply card in case people aren't tech savvy, but I'm thinking of sending them without a return stamp on them to encourage people to use the website instead. I will include stamps on guests who I KNOW won't use a computer like Grandparents, etc.

Is that a jerk thing to do?

P.S. you're allowed to disagree with me, I won't post an angry anonymous rant

Maybe make a point of stating nicely that either they reply, or they don't come. We are so tight for space at my wedding that we have to insist on RSVP's or there wont be room for them. Curse of a big family . . .

I was thinking the same. Would like to know what others think too.

I'm going to a wedding in two weeks and they had us RSVP by email. It was super easy, just send an email to a wedding account they created. Probably easier for some of the less tech savvy to RSVP online.

BUT if you've already made your RSVP cards/invites (I'm not sure) then this won't help! And btw, thanks for the disclaimer Smiley winking it's always appreciated!

I think for those ppl you know can RSVP online (friends, etc) make that their only option, and don't even include the reply card. I've received invitations like this, and it didn't bother me.

For those who you know CANT use the internet, or you aren't sure, give them both options but put a stamp on the RSVP card as a courtesy.

I would think not stamping the RSVP would be encouragement to do it online. I try to do everything humanly possible online, but not everyone is that way.

I'd stamp the ones for grandparents, etc. but not for my friends, younger family. And also spread the word when you see people, "If it's easier for you, RSVP online on our website! You can also find out all these other wonderful things about the wedding on our website!"

We are putting at the bottom of our invites "Rvsp to our website or email" and listed the URl and the email address (i made one specifically for RSVP's). also put our phone numbers. Putting in on the invite also saved us the cost of RSVP cards!

I think it is fine to skip the return postage when including an alternative form of RSVP (phone, email or website).

If you haven't printed your RSVP cards yet, you could instead ask them to call or RSVP online. I just received a wedding invitation that did that instead of providing something to return. I thought it was clever.

Thanks ladies! I think I'll just leave the postage off, the reply card is attached to our invitation and you tear it off, so I can't really get rid of it haha
