How big/who should be in my wedding party

Christine, on July 28, 2019 at 5:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
Im having a really hard time trying to decide who to ask to be in my wedding party. I don't want any of my friends to be offended but i also don't want a huge wedding party. How do i make sure people aren't offended if i don't ask them to be in my wedding party and any tips on how big to make my wedding party?

I know it feels unfair to not pick some friends over others, but you need to remember the more people in the party, the pricier it gets. It's another person to feed for the RD, another thank you gift, another bouquet/boutonniere to buy...
H and I said 3 people each max. If any friends asked, we let our friends know it was nothing personal, but we had a budget to stick to.

I picked my future sister-in-law and my best friend from high school and that's it. My FH did the same thing... so we each have a MH or BM and a BM and a GM. OR I have had friends who have just done family so just siblings and future in-laws.

Two things: You are not getting married for over TWO YEARS. Wait until March (or so) of 2021 to even begin to think about people. If you want your sister for sure, go ahead and ask. Friendships/Office friendships WILL change. Do not be afraid of having uneven numbers. Those are very common these days. (We had uneven numbers!)

This, 100%. Don't stress about it now because anything can happen in two years!

Agreeing with this! You won’t need to pick your wedding party until a year or so before your wedding. There really isn’t a need to until then.

I always plan ahead. These are just thought for the future when I actually pick my party...

I get planning ahead, I am a teacher, lol! But what I want to express to you is this: Your nearest and dearest will understand if you have just one attendant. From past experience the three biggest headaches that come up are: Money from parents, guest lists and bridal party horror stories. Too many cooks in the soup, you know? I will also be candid: It was my everlasting wish in my 20's to NOT be a bridesmaid!!! It is expensive!! If friends get prickly over not being involved, they are not true friends.
