how best to neatly glue the fabric to my cardbox

Maybe I can help. Measure you fabric to go around the box with an extra 1/2" at the seam. Make sure that it's about 3/4" above the top and bottom. Take a ruler and draw a straight line top to bottom on the side of the box. Spray your adhesive very lightly on the box. Make sure your fabric has at least on straight edge. Line that edge up wit the straight line you drew. work you way around the box from the center to the outer edges. When you you get to the top and bottom you'll need to cut slits in the fabric to fold it over evenly. You can cut the excess off later. I suggest that you get a jar or something and try it first so your comfortable when you start your box. Let me know how you do. Good Luck.

I saw this a while back, its a video on how to make your own, hopefully it helps. It pretty much just shows what Valerie said.

I would suggest you use spray adhesive-- 3M makes a really good one. Definitely test it on the bottom first though---just to make sure it doesn't bleed through the fabric.

Another thing to try would be rubber cement. If you coat the back of the fabric AND the box, let them both dry, then adhere it works really well.

It would be easy to cut the fabric exactly to size first (one piece for the side and a separate piece for the bottom) You could even add ribbon to the top and bottom if you don't want to see the seam.

Now it needs some decor...a brooch, or a bow or flowers ....donno what to do with it...it definately needs some color and the bottom needs to be finished
