How are you making your wedding 'yours'?

So I've read tons of posts and articles that suggest adding elements to your wedding to make it unique to you and yours. Likely, most people are doing this with color schemes and photos, what else are you doing? I don't want a cookie cutter wedding but I also don't want to over-do it with...

So I've read tons of posts and articles that suggest adding elements to your wedding to make it unique to you and yours. Likely, most people are doing this with color schemes and photos, what else are you doing? I don't want a cookie cutter wedding but I also don't want to over-do it with personalization and such.

As of right now, other than our color scheme, we are planning on using a blown up picture from our engagement shoot for our table assignment (faded photo with the table numbers with the name listed below or in alphabetical order) and getting a miniature figurine of our dog to add to our traditional 'Mr. & Mrs.' cake topper.

I want to add a little more. Mostly our hobbies and interests revolve around sports; we can't incorporate a specific team because we don't like the same ones!! Smiley xd Was thinking of trying to incorporate Italy (we both are Italian and have been to Italy and love it) but not sure how.

The other thing I was thinking was for our favors, do the 'His Favorite' 'Her Favorite' bags; he loves the old school Snow Caps chocolates and I love Sour Patch Watermelon.

Share yours!!

We are doing signature cocktails named after our cats, we are having bell ringing as our exit and a kissing bell because my FH plays hand bells, our cake topper is custom and says "Mr. & Mrs. Lastname", we are also doing a memorial table for our grandparents who passed and writing a poem for them, all of the decor is DIY by me so its all going to be very personal! We are also giving out custom M&M's because both FH and I's names start with M. I know there are more than I'm forgetting. I personally don't like cookie cutter weddings at all. My FBIL recently had an extremely cookie cutter wedding where nothing was personalized other than their guestbook. I want the exact opposite!

Where do I begin lol..Star Wars theme..we are having his and hers signature drinks, our Ty favors will be a bag of our favorite brand of coffee, we love coffee and a coffee mug with our names and wedding date. Our table numbers are characters from Star wars instead of numbers..these are just a few of our touches..

What the h@ll??? Rent them NOW. Truly epic. I never had a crush on Johnny Depp until that movie (although Orlando and Keira aren't so bad either!). And the music? Amazing. Makes me want to be a pirate.

I think what’s making our wedding unique is that we are having our kids stand up
for us versus our friends/family. Plus our venue is for the entire weekend so we will be having boat rides and tubing for all of our quests to enjoy. Also, bon fires and making s’mores.

    1. We not only love the same team, said team is why we were set up and how we fell in love... so, our colors are inspired by the team, and we ... stumbled into a themed wedding around our team. (The Phillies. Who are currently finding new and exciting ways to go from first to worst in the same season.)

    2. We are having a swordfight skit during the reception. We are both stage actors and trained in stage combat. Because we have been in shows together wherein my character kicks his character's rear all across the stage... we wanted to have a skit where we got to fight as a team, instead.

I love the his and hers favor ideas you have!
Um I think just my whole wedding was personalized. We got married at the place we met which was a church so that was great. And we had our reception at a place we had our third date at! Kind of like a tribute to our love story

We are such nerds so we have found little ways to incorporate that into our day. We are using lanterns that have symbolic meaning for us on our tables and pairing them with bride and "groom" rubber ducks for a funny touch. I will not carry flowers down the aisle, but instead will wear a corsage made from comic books and am writing my vows in a blue book made to look like River Song's journal from Doctor Who. When guests return from the beach to the beach house venue a big "Mischief Managed" sign will have magically appeared for an added bit of whimsy. Much of the music we will be playing throughout the day is from a movie we love or something that reminds us of growing up. Our guest book is really a wooden puzzle guests will sign and we get to put together after the wedding. And we will be giving bottle openers made to look like antique keys with pillow boxes full of Skittles as our favors. Some of these are a bit over the top but it will be all us.

Pretty much every element of our wedding was 'us.' From the venue (art gallery my husband had shown in), to the food (food truck catering), to specialty drinks, to attire, decor, song choices, etc. I felt like if a single element didn't feel like us, then I wasn't spending money on it, and it doesn't belong in my wedding.

The colors and music for sure. We both love 90s music especially R&B so I may incorporate that into the table numbers.

otherwise mostly the ceremony which I am hoping to write together
