How are you keeping track of your expenses and budget?

SoontobeJB, on April 8, 2015 at 2:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 42

I want to create a spreadsheet so I can keep track of how much i'm actually spending. I'd love to see pics or examples of how you girls are keeping track of everything. I'm a visual person so a spreadsheet is a must. It's driving me crazy that i've been purchasing things and don't know how much i've spent so far. TIA.

The budget tool here in WW is pretty good! It's kept us in line...well, at least we know where we've blown it.

I just use an Excel spreadsheet. I have a tab for the venue, the accessories, vendors, and then a vendor list with names and contact info.

I use the budgeter on here under your planning tools it lists out everything you need and you can add or delete as need be and you have the option to estimate prices and compare it to how much youve really spent. its also really easy to pull from one section to another as well. its the best budgeter ive found and im on like 6 wedding sites

I just buy stuff, then ask FH for more money. I have saved a ton of money by having him pay for everything. I have all of the receipts and will add them up after the wedding. If it's not a ridiculous amount, I'll show him, if it's too much, I'll burn the receipts and pretend I never saw them. Kidding (kind of). I just keep track of big purchases in a notebook. I don't count little things in my wedding budget.

And that's why I'm not in charge of our finances.

LMAOOOOOO @ Breanna, we're on a super tight budget which keeps shrinking thanks to unexpected bills so I really need to keep track of everything. Thanks girls i'm gonna check that out now. I've only used the checklist.

I use an excel spreadsheet. And I only use one debit card/account for all my wedding purchases.

@maybenotmaybe lol that's basically how I do it :-P it's like we TECHNICALLY have a budget but if I want something badly enough we figure out how to make it happen. That said the wedding wire budget tool is really useful for the big ticket stuff (venue, flowers, catering, etc...)

I made a spreadsheet in google docs and shared it with DH. we both added things to it throughout planning. kept a running total of everything and what was still owed until final payments.

I'm using the WW budget tool since it means I can put notes for future payments and keep track of what's due when, what's been paid and what the total costs are.

I'm using Salesforce. I created an Account for each vendor, and I'm creating opportunities for each type of expense.

ETA: You said you wanted pictures. Here's a snippet of the spending report.

I like the WW budget tracker tool, you can modify the categories however you like, and it also tracks what you've spent vs still owe. Every wedding purchase I've made- from vendor deposits to craft supplies- have gone in my tracker.
