Hi all! As the title suggests, I wanted to see what everyone was doing in regards to feeding your vendors in your wedding day. We have a photographer, his assistant, a band, a wedding planner, and her assistant that we need to feed. When we contacted our resort that is holding the dinner they gave us a 25% discount per head for each vendor. That is expensive! We are trying to come up with a vendor meal instead. Has anyone done this? Or what is everyone doing to feed their vendors? Thanks!

Our venue does half off for the same meal as of all the other guests.

Our venue is half off for the vendors. So they are being fed the same food but no alcohol, only soda.

The same way we are feeding our guests. They can have whatever they'd like off of the menu.

Our venue has a vendor's meal option, so we just have to let them know which option (I think there's two or three to choose from) and how many. They were less than the plated dinners but sound like fair options. I second the not being cheap to your vendors, they are working hard to make your day special, you should at least serve them a delicious meal.

Im sorry but you needed to consider this when you booked your vendors. I did. This is one of the main reasons I passed on getting a band bc feeding 6-10ppl plus paying them $2k for 5 songs was not a justifiable expense in our opinion. So, we are having 5 vendors (at 1/2 off the per person price) and feeding them properly. All the guest food/drinks options are available to them.

With that said, I think its kind of rude to offer your vendors an alternative menu which Im assuming is likely of lesser quality or choices. Unless your venue has a vendor meal option, I say you take advantage of the 25% off per vendor and know that this is an expense that you have bargained for.

Our venue offers vendor meals for $50 per person. Our photographers said if we didn't feel them they'd pack a sandwich, but that's crazy talk

Our venue provides meals to our vendors for free - well, at least they're doing that for us. We initially signed a contract with a different owner, then it was sold between signing our contract and the wedding. The new owner asked how many vendors we have (5 - 2 photographer, 1 videographer, 1 DJ, and 1 Photo Booth attendant) and she let us know they would be free.

I asked each of them if they had any dietary preferences or needs, and none did. One said she would prefer chicken if there was a choice. My venue is either setting up a table on the side, or upstairs (there's a balcony we're using for our cocktail hour that looks over our reception space) and they can eat there.

Our vendors were given exactly the same entree as our guests. They work hard and deserve to have a good meal. Don't cheap out on them.

My vendors will be eating the same things as my guests for the same price. They will be making sure they do everything they can to make my day run smoothly so the least I can do is feed them a nice meal.

I know this is an old post, but in my opinion the vendors are getting paid. They are 'at work' they are not guest. If a photographer is there and he is getting paid $2,500 for the day he is working. I'd paid for his or her presence. I do not feel any obligation to feed this person. I hired this individual to do a job and most likely if he/she resides in a different city I also have to pay for their transportation to the venue. To me this is business, not personal. I do not have a personal relationship with this person. If the vendor want to eat at the reception then I would discuss that beforehand and negotiate the meal price be deducted from their fee. If this is a backyard wedding with no catering, family providing the food, who cares but if I'm shelling out $100-$150 per plate; the vendor will not be eating unless they want to deduct that out of their fee. I'm sure many would pass on the meal.

Now if the vendor gave me a very, very good deal on their services, yeah I would feed them, but if they came to me like this is 'business and this is my price' then they will not be eating unless they want to pay for it. You can go to side and eat your sandwich and I will still sleep good at night.

During your workday do you get a lunch break? Expect that if you aren’t feeding your vendors, they’ll leave to get a meal outside of your venue. All my vendors required a meal as part of their contract.

My employer does not provide my lunch. Of course they need to take a break, regroup and eat if they are working the venue a full day, but I'm not required to provide a meal as my employer is not required to provide a lunch for me. My employer gives me time to eat lunch but does not provide my lunch. The contract is what me and vendor agree on. If there is something I want changed in the contract, they are either willing to modify and retain my services or not. Again, the vendor is either self-employed or an employee of a bigger firm and I'm the client that is paying for a particular service for a set amount of hours. I don't think I need to be concerned about whether they eat or not.

You revived a nearly year old post just so you can post your offense on feeding your vendors? Bless your heart.
