How are you collecting RSVPs?

Mckay, on June 11, 2016 at 1:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 41

Hey guys.. I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but how are you guys collecting RSVPs?

I really want to just put an email address on my invites and tell my guests to email me the names of all guests attending BUT I feel like this will make those who aren't coming not want to respond. Also, will people actually even "go to the trouble" of emailing? LOL I'm at a loss. I don't want to do a whole website and I really don't want to do paper RSVPs but I will if it makes everything more simple.

Confused! Smiley sad

They could email, call, text,fb message you. I guess I'm old fashioned i wanted to do paper. Half of my family doesn't use email or internet.

With only 30-35 people we put our numbers in the invites for rsvp's seems to be working fine so far.

@Holly That is something I've worried about to! I was thinking of doing email or text and now I really do not know.

I did an email rsvp when I hosted my sisters bridal shower and I have to say I will not be doing that for my wedding invites. I am doing the paper RSVPs as I had a portion of the people invited actually email a response, and only 2 out of the 15 people who didnt come rsvp'd no the other i never heard from. So leading up to the bridal shower i only had 25people confirmed and ended up with 48 people at the shower it was really difficult to plan for.

I did a website with online RSVP. Too many horror stories of spending the money on paper ones and stamps and people not returning them.

I really thought of doing a website but did you guys have to design the whole website? I really don't have the patience for that lol

We have listed a phone number to call and leave VM or Text. We decided it would be most economical that way with 350+ invites mailing out.

I would suggest either online RSVP via a website (WW has a great website making tool which was very easy and quick to set up) or paper RSVPs. I think you're right, if it's only email then people may not reply no or accidentally email the wrong address.

I had email, text and our address for rsvp on the invite. Alot bought a nice card and sent us a reply ( parents generation) many emailed a reply. All our friends text. Didn't do a website or separate rsvp cards.

Mckay, definitely set up a website! It's not hard at all - I did mine through The Knot but there a lot of platforms that basically have it all "designed" for you, and just can just customize it and fill in the info. You can put as much or as little info as you'd like. I don't have mine set up for RSVPs, we're doing them through mailed invitations, but a lot of people do use their website for RSVPs and you can put a lot of other information on their for your guests!

Thanks ya'll! Really didn't want to change from emails but you guys are right. Website and paper are popular for a reason lol. ugh. Was just hoping to see if there were any success stories from email or text RSVPs.

    Thanks again!

They all got the exact same rsvp card. For our non techy people e put stamps on the card, everyone else got no stamp. We put our wedding website on the rsvp card and the invite. If they rsvp on ww it auto puts them into accept or decline. For the ones I get mailed back I can go in and mark them accepted or declined.

Me did the old fashion RSVP card and envelope and we have an online option through our website. We've currently accounted for 61 of the 204 invited, and only 1 couple used the online option. (We just sent invites out 1.5 weeks ago).

We did the paper rsvps and I loved going to the mailbox every day to check for new ones. I like the old fashioned way of receiving them in the mail. Plus we had some older invitees that didn't have internet/email.

I'm doing wedding website rsvps. I'm including an RSVP card with invitations, but it'll have an online RSVP request instead. If I do mailing rsvps, then I'll have to include postage for guests so that they don't have to buy their own stamps, and it adds extra postage costs to even mail the invites. Plus, I'll be getting a lot of mail back. I don't want to do postcard rsvps either, because I don't want like my mailman showing up, haha. I want to keep it private. I think most of my guests would rather quickly go online and submit the rsvps. I guess it depends on the demographics of your guests, though.

We are doing paper RSVPs but giving an option to RSVP online through our website. For family out of the country I have provided my mother's phone number. ETA* clarify

We sent out the paper RSVP with postage applied return envelopes. We had lots of older guests. We included an insert for out of town guests about hotels, etc and included our website. Only had one person (a media person) use the online RSVP. I would use old fashioned methods for older folks, computer methods for the younger folks (under 40).

Our RSVP added a line for how many guests to expect on the bottom.
