House Warming Wedding

Has anyone ever been to a wedding at the couple's brand new home? I had this thought and it seems interesting and I'd like to know what you think. To me it sounds similar enough to a traditional back yard wedding.

I could never pull this off successfully, but what if it was labeled as a house warming party and was actually a suprise wedding?!
We are going to build a home in the next few years, so if we were to host, what I'll call, a house warming wedding we would have to put off the event even longer. We'd also tell everyone the plans and not have it be a surprise. Our guest list is 40 people.

This sounds like an amazing idea!!!
I do like the surprise aspect btw. I think it's definitely doable. But part of the fun of wedding planning is getting to talk about it and any pre wedding activities. That being said, I still love the idea. If I were invited to a house warming party, and was surprised with a wedding, I would be floored!

We're hoping to attend a friends wedding at their new house in April (granted they've lived there almost a year at this point) but they have a huge property and it should be nice.
I don't like the surprise aspect of weddings because what if someone important didnt make it then got their feelings hurt because they would have tried to make it a priority had they known it was your wedding?

I have a friend planning a wedding celebration like this for later this year! They are having a very small destination ceremony, but will have a celebration of their marriage + housewarming party as well for their local family and friends. I'll let you know how it goes!
