Hotel for wedding night, What is a must?

Lil Ms. to Lil Mrs., on August 21, 2018 at 4:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

What things would you look for when booking a hotel room for your wedding night? Like what size bed? Or what do you want included in the room? Or will any room do just fine?

We're staying in the same hotel and room as the previous few nights, which is a pretty awesome suite. We have to have a large room because part of the bachelor/bachelorette is taking place in the room. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't really care as long as it's not dirty and super cramped. We're leaving for the honeymoon at 6am the next day, so it's not like we get a lot of time to enjoy it!

Usually whenever FH and I go on trips that require a hotel stay (which is pretty rare for us) we prefer to have a king size bed and a decent shower/bath tub. I'd say if it was for honeymoon purposes those are the two things I would look into and it being a nicer hotel instead of places you would just rent for the night just for a place to stop and sleep.

Not sure how you are booking a place but look into booking.com I always use them when booking hotel stays when we have a trip. They always seem to have pretty decent deals on great places to stay.

As long as its known for being clean idc otherwise. Kind size bed its nice but queen is fine. Decent sized bathroom with sink space is nice. I like having full length mirrors lol just not neccessary. We are staying at a Hilton the night of near our minimoon destination.

We booked at the hotel we blocked for guests. Our room is free because guests booked in the block, but we upgraded to a suite for the night before the wedding and the night of. When I'm looking for hotels, I look for good reviews, free parking, amenities (pool & gym), restaurants in the hotel (at least 1) and stuff nearby!

That sounds like an awesome deal! Did they just offer you the free room after a certain number or guest booked or did you have to ask for a deal?

I think it's common with Marriott Hotel blocks! They do complimentary 15 room blocks and if you fill them you get the free room. We have a TON of out of town guests so our block is for way more than 15, but you don't have to do more than 15!

We chose the hotel right next to the venue because it's very historic (built in 1876) and we love history. It was one of the first hotels we stayed in on our first night together and we always stay there when we take weekend getaways. Basically we picked it because its special to us and our relationship. It has no TV, no phone, clawfoot tubs, balcony that overlooks the city and mountains. It's like an escape away from the real world

Nice bathtub. I’m going to be tired and sore and my makeup will need removing. Other than that I would like it to be clean 😂

We choose a bed and breakfast at a winery that happened to be a half mile down the road from the venue. It’s only has 3 rooms so it should be pretty private. We might be tired, but we haven’t lived together and have done a significant amount of LD so I highly doubt we will fall into the “too tired to do anything” category lol. Also, I was SUPER against staying in my home town the first night but with a little research we found the quaint B&B... it’s worth looking a bit till you find something you like, in my opinion.

Our room for the night came with the venue for “free”. I like that we don’t have to travel anywhere and a nice king sized bed by the ocean will be waiting on us! I’m sure you’ll be happy wherever

We splurged a little for our wedding night hotel. There's an adults only inn across the street from our venue where each room has its own hot tub! He'll have a glass of good scotch, I'll have a last glass of wine, and we'll get to relax together before traveling early the next morning. I'm very excited!

Is that hotel just a local one or do they have some everywhere?

We got a free suite since we are having our wedding/reception there and also doing hotel blocks. IF we upgrade to the next package our parents rooms are free as well. It's a Marriott so we are quite happy with everything. Generally though I look for the ammenities that are offered and go from there and I'm all for the king sized bed.

It's The Inn at Turtle Beach Resort in Sarasota. From the website, it looks like it's just a local hotel, but I could very well be wrong!

The reason why we booked a hotel is because our venue is an hour and a half from where we live. We chose the SpringHill Suites by Marriott because it was new and modern. We didn't choose a fancy room, but it is a suite and there is a small "living room" section with a sofa and a coffee table, and we choose 2 queen beds because it's incredibly hard for me to sleep in the same bed with my fiancé since I am a light sleeper and he has restless legs, and constantly moves around and doesn't sleep much.

We havent decided if we are even going to bother with a hotel that night or just go home to our cat. It will all depend on where my FS gets a job out of vet school if we are living a lot further away we will, or if it is free, if not we go back home and save the $$.

But generally we just care that it is clean and easy to get to. Close to things we want to do (walking distance is really nice if possible) and that there is free parking.
