Hot weather brides... Hair down?

SpringBride23, on March 22, 2017 at 10:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

(Located in Sarasota, FL) So I know I want my hair down for my wedding. I never wear my hair up because I don't like how it looks on me. I didn't think twice about this, but as I am looking for hairstyling, I saw one stylist who had: "YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE YOUR HAIR DOWN FOR A FLORIDA WEDDING" plastered across her website. I never thought twice about having my hair down, I curl my hair basically daily and I never have an issue with humidity. Plus my wedding is in March and March is really quite nice here. Have any brides left their hair down/are planning to leave their hair down in a humid climate?

I'm in Florida and I'm wearing my (super long) hair down. If you never have a problem with humidity and you have a competent stylist, I think you'll be fine.

I am in Tallahassee (spent last week in Sarasota, it's beautiful) and I will NOT have my hair down because I know my hair (and style) my hair will not hold a curl, especially in humidity.

If you already live in Florida and know your hair, and that it isn't a problem, don't let someone else make it one.

I'm sure it's a lot bigger concern for brides from nice dry cool places that show up for a destination wedding and expect their hair to behave the same way in 80% humidity as 25%.

They can use products to help and it sounds like you should be fine since you curl your hair so frequently without issues. I want my hair down too, I'm in WI. I've heard some people that were concerned with this went with half down. Talk to the stylists to say this is what you would like, what is their opinion, and how can they make it work. You'll find the right one!

I got married in West Palm Beach in November and wore my hair down. It lasted fine. It was a gorgeous day though. Are you going to do a trial?

We don't have humidity, but I'm going to wear my hair down at my summer outdoor wedding. I'd rather have my neck be a little hot than be wearing an updo, which is so unflattering for me, in photos forever. You already know how your hair acts in your climate, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you're really concerned, schedule your preview a few weeks before and see how it holds up.

We don't have humidity but I wore my hair half up half down. Could be a good way to get the hair out of your face?

My wedding is in August. Yes, it will be hot but I feel best when my hair is down so that's what I'm doing. Smiley smile

I'm having an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception in late summer so I hear ya! I think you should do whatever you feel beautiful doing! Amber Erin - you look stunning in that photo! OP I think doing half up half down might help to get the hair off of your face like Amber Erin suggested

I'm getting married on the beach in Florida in July (at sunset) and I'm wearing my hair down. I'm getting extensions to help with the curl. Everyone has told me that I don't need to do it, but I don't like my hair up.

I'm a Florida bride to be getting married in July and I'm leaving my hair down. Of course FH specifically asked if I could leave it down because he loves my long hair lol. Especially if it's an indoor ceremony I'd say it wouldn't be an issue

I was married in Nov in FL on the beach - I wore my hair up because I get hot easily, my hair doesn't hold a curl AT ALL and I wanted it to stay in one place (hello breeze!). But, if you don't have issues with your hair falling flat/holding a curl/making you super hot then I say go for it!

I was married in July & where I'm from (Toronto, ON) July is our hottest month. It was 28 degrees C on our wedding day & pretty humid. I feel the same as you, I never wear my hair up because I don't like how it looks on me, so I wore it down despite the hot weather. If possible I recommend you bring a curling iron in your emergency bag, mine saved me big time! We did a first look & took photos before our ceremony & my hair completely fell apart towards the end oh the photos. Luckily we were able to use the curling iron in the church before the ceremony & fix it. I should mention that my hair is fine & thin so it has trouble holding curls in general, but the heat definitely didn't help. Another piece of advice is to wear extensions, as they will hold the curl better. However, if you curl your hair on a regular basis without any issues then I'm sure you'll be fine, just bring the curling iron just in case!

I sweat like a linebacker on a daily basis. I always have my hair down, but plan to have it up for the wedding. I just want to limit the things that will make me feel uncomfortable. I'm thinking of doing something like this:

As I bridal stylist, I've had brides wear their hair down in rain and it still holds curl, but I've also had brides wear their hair down in PA humid July and it doesn't hold for 20 minutes. If you know your hair in that climate, and know it holds curl well go for it. But maybe be open to a Plan B in case something freaky happens that day

We're in Fort Myers and we will be getting married at a resort on the beach. I told the DOC at the resort I was worried about my hair and wanted it down yada yada and she said she could recommend me some stylist and that's what they specialize in. So there are people that can do it, you just have to find them.

I will be wearing mine down. The hair dresser said to use Bed Head hair spray for a super hold on any curl you put in.
