hot sweaty bride

Angie B, on July 17, 2012 at 10:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I am wondering how do we brides stay cool carrying around the big dresses and with the nerves I am afraid Im gonna break out into a sweat an look like a big sweaty red blotchy face. How have previous brides handled this or was it an issue for any? Hot natured brides how do you plan to cope?

This is why I'm thankful that I will be getting married in October. I don't do heat very well anymore..

I was just wondering the same thing. Dumb me is having an outdoor wedding/reception in September in Georgia where temps could be in the 90s and I sweat when it gets above 80 LOL!

Staying hydrated with plenty of water is a must! A fan (either standing in front of an electric one or fanning yourself) can help as well. We will have a tent so at least in there I should be relatively cool. My hair will be up so I don't have to worry about it adding to the heat. You can buy industrial strength deodorent and antiperspirent. Keep a small misting bottle near you - evaporation will also help cool you down.

That's all I've been able to think up. It will be interesting to see what other brides are doing!

I was thinking about inventing a garter belt with a battery operated fan connected to it. Then we could get air under those big dresses!

I swear by Certain Dri antiperspirant. You put it on the night before, then wash it off in your morning shower, but the effect still lasts all day. And because you wash it off before putting your dress on, you don't end up with deodorant stains.

I've also heard that hoop skirt petticoats help. They keep the dress away from your skin, and you can push the hoops back and forth to set up a breeze under there. We didn't need them for our October wedding, but they might be helpful to those getting married in warmer weather.

I honestly don't understand why couples pick to be outside when it's going to be screaming hot. The guys are dying, the guests are sweaty and inattentive, the bride and bridesmaids almost as hot. Think about it; when it's 90 degrees, do YOU want to be outside? All dressed up and outside? No. Neither does anyone else.

Take pix outside. Make it available for cocktail hour, but don't force your guests and your bridal party to be outside for the ceremony. It's just cruel.

    And Certain Dry is great!!!

I also sweat when it starts to get warm, thus an updo for my August wedding. I'm getting dressed at my parents and I told them and the girls that I don't care if they have to put on sweaters, it is going to be nice and cool in the house.

After trying my dress on again tonight (for about the 12th time this month!) I was sweating just getting in and out of it, inside, in AC! Our wedding is outside on Sept 29th on a boat so we will have the water and breeze hopefully, but with all those layers of dress and me not doing heat well I am seriously considering attaching some ice packs or something under my dress lol!! You never know how Texas will be around the time we are getting married but no matter what it won't be "cool", at least not to me.

I was looking at that Anti Monkey Butt stuff, never heard of Certain Dri before. My problem is I sweat real bad on my lower back and bikini line area/leg area. Can you put this stuff in those places too, does it work?

We had an outdoor wedding in May and it was like 92 degrees, I drank plenty of ice cold water and stayed in the shade. Our wedding started at 5 and the reception maybe 30 minutes later. By 6 it had cooled considerably. We had no complaints. I was in heaven so I doubt that the temp would have made much difference.
