Honeymoons and/or Minimoons

Meghan, on October 20, 2020 at 10:08 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Where are you going on your honeymoon and/or minimoon? Has Covid changed your travel plans at all?

I got married last October, pre-Covid. We did a minimoon right after our wedding in Banner Elk, NC and had a full honeymoon planned to Ireland this May. Sadly Covid prevented our Ireland trip Smiley sad .

We are getting married in Gatlinburg, TN (about 4 hours from where we live) and we decided to just stay there in Gatlinburg for our honeymoon. So we booked a hotel for Friday-Monday for the wedding weekend and then we will move to an Airbnb Monday-Saturday for honeymoon. FH didn’t want to spend a lot of time traveling for honeymoon and we love just relaxing in the mountains so made sense to us.

Oh no! Sorry that your Ireland trip was affected by COVID! Do you plan to reschedule?

My fiance and I were supposed to get married this past July, but we decided to postpone to 2022 due to COVID. We were going to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon this summer, though we postponed that as well. Hoping 2022 works out for us to be able to travel for our honeymoon!

We will eventually reschedule. With the uncertainty of international travel at this time, we will probably wait until at least next year.

I hope by 2022 we are back to normal and you can take your Hawaii trip!

We are having a destination wedding, so we are including the week we are in New Orleans as part of our “mini moon”. Then we will also be spending 3 days in Massachusetts. Covid ruined our honeymoon is well. We were supposed to go to Europe. We are crossing our fingers we will be able to make that our one year anniversary trip instead 🤞🏻

We're honeymooning in St. Lucia in February. As of right now, the company told us that things are still cleared to travel. Anything can happen between now and then so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

I'm getting married in 2022, so hopefully our plans will go through without any problems. We're getting married in Chicago and then having a second reception in my fiancé's hometown in Spain about a month later. By Spanish law we're entitled to 15 days for a honeymoon starting the day after we get married, so we'll use that time to take a road trip across the US to Montana, where my parents live. Then we're hoping to use our normal vacation time for an international trip during one of the colder months (we're thinking Egypt or Thailand!).

We were supposed to have our big wedding this friday 10/23 and go to Hawaii on 10/26. But covid messed all that up! We would've still gone to hawaii this year to be honest with you - we both had covid already so while we dont' want to take chances, we do have antibodies... even though we moved our big celebration to next year, we'd take the trip first lol, but they shut down all flights into hawaii and just booted us so *shrug* just rolled with it. Now we are still getting married in our minimony on 10/23/20 and our minimoon will be to Lake George, NY (we live in NY and wanted to stay in state to prevent any problems). Next year we hope that we can make it to Hawaii as i have a non-refundable credit on my airline tickets and our big ceremony will be 10/29/21.

hope you guys make it to your trips too!! Ireland should be really cool!

Getting married in January 2021 outside of Orlando, FL. For a "minimoon" we'll probably go to Disney the Monday after. We've been tons of times because we used to live in Orlando, so if they open reservations for it on time we want to get some sort of behind the scenes tour! The parks will definitely be open, but they're not taking reservations for many extras yet. For the honeymoon, we were originally thinking African safari in April/May, but because international travel is so uncertain we're looking at Alaska now, either March for a winter/northern lights trip or May/June for a warmer weather trip. Alaska requires a negative test within 72 hours of travel which I find a reasonable safety requirement. Plus it's still farther than our typical vacation and lots of time in nature Smiley smile

We got married last year, but we postponed our honeymoon until this year.

...And we got in just under the wire by going to Disney in January. (Our friend/travel agent had suggested October - as in now - as an alternative. I put my foot down and said I was going before our first anniversary. That was a bit of luck.)

We were supposed to be in Disney World right now! Though it's technically open, we just weren't comfortable going. So we're planning a long weekend at a really nice, historic hotel about an hour from home. But because of our work schedules we haven't been able to get away yet. Right now we're tentatively planning for the first weekend in November.
