Honeymooning!!!

So originally me and my FH wanted to go to Dominican republic and then we changed it to Puerto Rico but with the expenses of the wedding adding up we chose to go on a cruise to save money but still have a honeymoon and time alone together and we saved a bunch.. only paying $1,773 for the both of us total for our honeymoon and let me tell you we can’t wait to go.

We're going to Jamaica. Sandals Resorts are throughout the Caribbean and they're all inclusive...all food, alcohol, water sports on resort are included in the room rates. Airfare and excursions off the resort are separate. Check the website out and see what you think.

I personally like Playa del Carmen a lot better than Cancun. Also, you could check out Isla Mujeres if you like the idea of Mexico.


Aruba, St. Lucia and Barbados are also very nice destinations...at least to us.

We're getting married on Leap Day and will be going to Turks & Caicos for 7 nights/8 days at the beginning of March! We're staying in Providenciales but will be flying to Grand Turk for a day to go snorkeling with humpback whales as North American Humpback Whales migrate to Grand Turk & Salt Cay for the winter. I'm so excited to see them! The water in Turks & Caicos is so clear and turquoise, and Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales is consistently ranked the top beach in the world.

Mexico is wonderful in general- the food is always better than Dominican. I would stay away from Cancun as it tends to lean towards partiers, students, etc. The Mayan Riviera is a wonderful spot (fly into Cancun). There's a nice area called "Playacar" which is a super safe neighbourhood with lots of resort options there. From there, you can also go into the main city- Playa Del Carmen - for a day and do some shopping. I've even walked there along the beach. I've stayed in Playacar 4 times- all at Rui resorts. We had a great time.

Jamaica or Turks and Caicos were options for us. But Turks and Caicos was way too expensive in January, either because it's high season there or because we were late to booking it. I think it was a little of both. I would still check it out if you are going in Spring after your wedding and if booking in enough time!

We are goi to Aruba! It is super safe and out of the hurricane belt!

View Quoted Comment It is expensive because of everything included but you're able to make payments, we paid monthly until it was paid off. Everything just has to be off 60 days prior to flying out.

Oh okay.. well I have 4 months till we go on our honeymoon so im not sure if we would be able to pay it off by then while we are still paying for our wedding stuff. thank you for the advice though it is absolutely beautiful

I would recommend Groupon. They have all inclusive food and drinks and flight. Good luck!!

View Quoted Comment We aren’t doing an all inclusive. But there are several on the island. We are still staying at a resort, but with Aruba being so safe we plan on going out and trying different restaurants!
