Honeymoon suite vs regular room on weddding night

mrs_in_september14, on August 11, 2014 at 4:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

So I was quoted $330 for a honeymoon suite and my guests $130 for a regular room. I called the hotel and see what the big difference is between the two and there is not much of a difference. The suite has a Jacuzzi and a living room and the regular room does not. I think I am going to save myself $200 and just get the regular room. just saying

We got the suite only because we needed separate spaces to get ready in (we're staying there together the night before, too). Otherwise I totally would gave saved the money!

Iʻm a spoiled brat so I demanded that honeymoon suite. If youʻre not as materialistic or bratty then definitely save yourself that $200.

I would save the money. If you are just staying for your wedding night, you don't need all the extra space.

We just got the regular room, we wont' be back until late and wouldn't be using a Jacuzzi or anything like that. I would save the money

We opted for an upgrade, but that's just us. My advice would be... book the less expensive room then call a couple days before and ask for a free upgrade. I've heard honeymooners get tons of upgrades. It's worth a try!

We had a regular room with a balcony. It was perfect and didn't break the bank.

I figure we won't be in the room for that long anyway, so i booked a regular room.

I'm a drama diva and I'd go for the regular room too.

but I would demand nice candles and rose pedals all over the regular size room bed.

My situation is a bit diff but we are having a destination wedding and will be there 2 weeks so we booked the bigger suite. We also have 2 kids and the suite allows half the room to close off so we can have some alone time on the nights the kids aren't bunking in with other family members. For us it was well worth the 1400 extra for 2 weeks bc we know how stressful staying in a small room can be. However for one night you probably won't care about the room. And a hot tub sounds nice but you may use it 10 minutes and then move to the bed anyway lol. Ask for a fee upgrade especially if you are bringing them business with your wedding guests!

I got the suite complimentarily from the venue because they had no guest rooms available. Win! Ask for a complimentary upgrade! Smiley smile

MIL & FIL got us a regular room and hotel upgraded us to a "executive suite" it for free, included a free breakfast in their downstairs cafe, and a $50 bar tab. They also sprinkled rose petals all through our room, and gave us complementary champagne.

This was unheard of at the hotel we stayed at because it's in a business area and they don't get many "honeymooners"...but it was within 5 miles of our venue.

SAVE THE MONEY. How much are you ACTUALLY going to enjoy the room? We plan on passing out ... sooo, normal room for us. We MAY get a bottle of champagne delivered for when we arrive, but that's about it. No need for honeymoon suite in my opinion.

We are coming home that night. We both have to work the next day. i am getting a regular room the night before cause I am determined to not see him prior to the ceremony. We are going on our honeymoon 2 weeks after the wedding.

I told FH that as long as there's a place to sleep and get down with the get down I'll be happy. No need for all the bells and whistles.

Yes I think I will save the $200 and put it towards something else. So when do you ask for an upgrade when you book or when you arrive???

We get a free regular room or a suite for the price of a discounted regular room. So we are going with the suite. There is no way we are going to fit me, my big tulle ballgown dress, 3 bridesmaids, and a couple other people, plus photographer and hair/makeup person (maybe) in the regular hotel room. So I just decided to book the suite for both nights. It was originally $300 something a night but we get it for $129 each night. (guest rooms are normally $179 but will be $129)

We are going home, we leave for our honeymoon Sunday so I figured why waste money on a hotel when our brand new house is 5 miles away.

But if I need the hotel room I would get the suite. I like fancy hotel rooms ;-)
