Honeymoon on a budget..... help!

Courtney, on May 17, 2019 at 1:26 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
We are planning our honeymoon for the last week of September/first week of October. We have just been browsing honeymoon options, but I've always wanted to go to Hawaii. Everything I've looked at for honeymoon options are so ridiculously expensive. Does anyone have any tips for cheaper vacations or have used VRBO or Air B&B for Hawaii vacations?? Thanks in advance!

You could always do a cruise! That is what we ended up deciding on because of cost! We are going on a 5-day, 4 night cruise to the Bahamas on Royal Caribbean, with a suite room with its own balcony, for $1000 total, plus food of course. They have some great deals on cruisesonly.com. It is definitely worth checking out!

Look at Hotwire/Priceline/Hotels.com for hotels! We’re booking our hotel in Turks & Caicos through Hotels.com and significantly cheaper than the resorts! It’s an oceanfront inn, and we’re getting it for only $125/night when most all of the resorts are $300+ a night! Check Google Flights to find the cheapest flights!

I've never been to Hawaii, but we used Airbnb in Europe and it was awesome! If you shop around, you can often find an apartment all to yourself.

I agree with the cruise idea! My husband and I went on a full 7 day cruise to the Carribean for about $1300 for both of us with about another $400 on flights to get to the cruise. I love cruises since they are pretty afforable vacations and you don't have to buy any food once you're on there!

The cruise idea is great! I have actually looked at cruises and found that was the cheapest and biggest bang for its buck. I will look at them again! Thanks!!

CAUTION on this one. They are cheap at that time of year for a reason.

This is high hurricane season in the Caribbean and we have learned our lesson (twice) on booking a cruise in the months of September and October. We had one cancel and one that ended up basically be only days at sea and no island visits due to re-routing for the storm.

If you do book a cruise during this time period, I would for sure buy the insurance as well.

We LOVE cruises, don't get me wrong (15 and counting lol) and we are going on RCCL for our Honeymoon as well, but just a fair warning on the time of year and sailing.

Hawaii is always pricey and if you can find a good deal, definitely go. If you're planning something that's more resorty I would suggest going to Aruba or Curacao. They are safe from the hurricanes, below the belt.
I definitely understand wanting to check off things from your bucket list! We got married last September and did a late to mid October honeymooner to Tenerife and Barcelona. We did one week at a resort hotel and another week at an booking.com Airbnb style apartment. We use Airbnb frequently and have in Rio, Arizona, and many other spots. And we only stay in spots with good reviews.

Oh yes, I completely forgot about hurricane season!! The one cruise I went on was in October and we weren’t sure if we were gonna be able to board and only got to go on one port!
