Honeymoon in the ABC islands?

Archer_Bride2be, on May 14, 2013 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Our wedding is the last day of August and we want to do our honeymoon right away. Since September is hurricane season I want to look at the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao), Has anyone honeymooned on these islands? if so what resort, and how did you like it?

I'm also looking at Costa Rica because a friend recomended it, so any advise there would be good too Smiley smile Thanks!

I haven't been, but looked briefly into the ABCs. Bonaire would probably be nice for a day trip, but not to stay.

I've also heard that Costa Rica has a lot of activities, in case you and FH aren't interested in just laying around the beach. FH's cousin honeymooned there last year and loved it. Even had little monkeys hanging outside their hotel on the balcony Smiley smile

Anyone else have more concrete recommendations?

I haven't honeymooned nor have I been to all of them but I have been to Bonaire. Didn't stay in a hotel (I have a dutch friend whos family have a place) I liked it. (I prefer other places in that part of the world but better than costa Rica, which wasn't bad just that Bonaire was more my sort of place)

Bonaire is beautiful! We got engaged during our last trip there in July and we're actually getting married there next July 26, 2014. Just paradise!!

The trick to staying there though is to book through vacation rental sites like VBRO.com or homeaway.com and you can find a nice cottage for a week for 2 people right around 1000. Then you'll have your own kitchen and save a bunch of money on food!

If either of you scuba dive it's the place to go- if not there's lots of other things to do. Word of caution though try to fly out on saturdays- they're when most of the big airlines go directly to the island from houston or maimi. It makes traveling way easier.
