Honeymoon Help! St. Lucia vs Antigua

Kristen, on March 12, 2013 at 10:35 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5

We are getting married Oct 12 and plan on leaving Oct. 15 and staying for 7 nights. We can't decide where to go, so I'm hoping to get some advice from you ladies. We were thinking either St. Lucia or Antigua, both of these being out of the "hurricane belt"since Oct is in the rainy season. We will be flying out of Milwaukee or Chicago and have a budget of $6,000.

These are things we are both looking for in a honeymoon:

- All Inclusive

- close to the beach

- we would be up for zip lining, boat ride/sunset cruise, shopping, waterfall hikes, etc.

- some nightlife, we don't want to be partying until 2 in the morning, but having a band or beach party 2 or 3 nights would be fun

- plunge pool would be cool, but not a dealbreaker

- Not sure we really want to stay at a Sandals, we would be comfortable at a smaller resort

Any resort recommendations or pros/cons for st. lucia vs antigua would be so helpful!

Should we get a travel agent or try to book everything on our own?

Thank You!

We are going to St. Lucia on our honeymoon!! November Bride I'm so excited my FH planned it on his own... Im so proud...lol we are staying at Sandals Halcyon... From what I read it is the smaller of the Sandals resorts on the island... We also looked at Antigua but our travel agent found a great deal in St. Lucia

The travel agent we always use has never done us wrong... and honestly we could have booked everything on our own but our travel agent does everything... no hassel.. all we have to do is get married and get on a plane... So that part is up to you.. Good luck picking.. Smiley smile

That is awesome that your FH planned it all on his own!! I think we might keep looking around at some resorts to get ideas and then find a travel agent.

Have any recently married ladies been to either of these islands? or know of any good travel agents?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, I would recommend Sandals in St Lucia, if you are considering a Sandals resort, in St Lucia, you can stay at 1 and play at 3 if you choose. Please feel free to contact me, would love to help you with the booking of your honeymoon, There is no fee to use my services, and I am a Sandals specialist!

Another option that is a smaller resort in St Lucia is Morgans Bay.

In Antigua, a smaller all inclusive is Curtain Bluff in Antigua

    Both islands are beautiful - the smart thing about staying at the Sandals in St. Lucia is there are 3 properties (Halcyon, Grande, La Toc) you stay at one and have access to all three (complimentary shuttle every 15 minutes) so you get more bang for your buck; My first zipline experience was at St. Lucia;

Both islands however offer all the activities you want; my clients who go to Antigua like the Sandals or Verandah (both are all inclusive)

We are going to Rendezvous in St Lucia. We are both extremely excited. It's a small all inclusive with only 100 rooms. It's perfect for us. They have a sister resort, the body holiday lesport, that is larger that we can also go to. The best thing is we got an awesome deal!
