Honest opinions please! Is this dress too booby or shiny?!

After trying on 10-15 different dresses at David's Bridal, I left feeling absolutely ridiculous in all of them. I could not see myself in a traditional white or ivory bridal gown. So I took a chance and ordered a light grey dress off Amazon and it finally came in!

The color was a little different than I expected, as it appears more shiny/silver in certain lighting (pic 2&3) but I LOVE the way I feel in it! I tried it on with my mom and sisters and they all loved it as well. I showed a picture to my FMIL since she offered to make my veil and she commented on how revealing it is and how with alterations I could make the neck line higher.

I felt comfortable in it but now I'm second guessing myself. It obviously still needs alterations at the bottom and the shoulders are loose so I assume that will help a bit.

Do you all think it is too revealing? Is the color too metallic-y?

I can return it if I choose so I will not be out any money. TIA for your unbiased opinions!!

I love the dress! If it was me, I would alter the neckline a tiny bit so I felt more comfortable. But I don't think it's distasteful really so if you are comfortable then go for it!

You look beautiful in your dress! It's a little more low cut than what I would wear, but you are the only one who needs to be comfortable with it! You could add in a sorta shear (or lacy) panel to make it more modest IF you want to.

I personally love it, it looks great on you. But, I would raise the neckline a little. Maybe add a little of a sheer panel

Personally I like the neckline but I also like when my boobs are the center piece of the outfit. I'm going to assume that isn't what you are going for. The dress itself is lovely. If you feel a little too on display then add a little panel. But definitely don't scrap the dress altogether

Wow, you all are awesome! Thanks so much for the great feedback!

It is a bit more cleavage than I typically do show. I just thought alterations alone would help that so I guess that's why I was a little thrown off with my FMIL automatically assuming that I was adding something to cover up the neck line, which started the second guessing.

I do absolutely love the color!!! And in person it is perfect. However I noticed it photographed differently depending on the flash and lighting so that was where the concern of the shinyness came from. Lol.

I will have to post an update post alterations! Feeling even more excited after sharing with you all!!

Clearly this is a unique dress.. would I wear it as my wedding dress no.. unless you're looking for something very different.. then this is your dress.. if you're looking for a more "wedding dress" look.. then this isn't it.. it's a beautiful dress!! Whatever you choose I think you'll look amazing.. and yes it's a bit too booby.. unless you want it to be that booby.

I love the dress! But I agree with previous posters that you need a small panel to hide a little cleavage.

I Love the dress!!!! And you look amazing in it. It's all about you and your confidence level. If you feel comfortable go for it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you feel any concern then talk to your seamstress about putting in an illusion panel or what else could be don't to minimize what is bothering you. Great color and I love the details in lace. Beautiful choice!!!!!

As PPs have said, I personally don't like very booby dresses- that's just a matter of personal taste. It's a bit low cut for my preference. I love the color and sparkle- if you feel beautiful then leave it the way it is. If you decide to alter the neckline, it would look really nice as a square neckline as well. But only do that if you can get the alterations done in the same fabric- I don't think adding a panel of a different fabric would look good.

It looks great on you. It is a little revealing but if it's your style and you are comfortable in it I say go for it!

I really like that. I'm more of a traditional wedding gown but I would've done something like that. That is so beautiful and you look great in it.

I absolutely love it. If my cleavage was that spot on I wouldn't alter it either. Seems like you really like it and are comfortable in it, you shouldn't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Ashley, I love the dress and the color. It reads bridal to me (even without a bouquet of flowers at the waist).

The cleavage is very noticeable, as you know. There's not necessarily anything wrong with that, but you did say, "It is a bit more cleavage than I typically do show." Today, that might sound like it's not a big deal, but give it some more thought. You are choosing a day in which every eye in the room will be simultaneously be focused on you (during your processional). Are you comfortable, thinking in those terms, of wearing the gown, as is? If so, then go for it; but if you think you may be standing in front of a mirror on your wedding day asking for safety pins, change it now.

And for what it's worth, I think you need just a few stitches to close it up at the bottom (they'll still be plenty of cleavage). It's just my personal preference on which look is more attractive.
